There seems to many options on the install of the Fp gauge my options that Im concidering on my '02... ... .

NOTE IM PROBLY NOT GOING TO USE THE ISOLATOR

Genos billet fuel cap -----not sure what to purchase to finish install I already have the gauge what more do I need ... will this work ----- HERE ??

OR

Genos banjos 4/1 BF-Kit ---what is reqirued to complete install??? will the kit work in my link.

whats the application on GENOS fuel pressure line 18" I think that would be useless if you dont have an isolator ..... right??

I need to get this stuff ordered ASAP install of gauges is quickly approching please give me some feedback with ... . possible needle valve sizes ,,,hose type and lenght ... . the Fp gauge will be on the top of my piller mount ... it says to use bradded hose ..... where you guys getting this stuff and how do you use a needle valve on bradded fuel line???? I heard of the Grease gun hose but Im not sure witch application would require its use or even how much Ill need for that matter.

This is what I think will work ... not sure-------Ill get the GENOS tapped fuel filter cap-$59 and the kit from DPP $16 and a needle valve of some sort ... I think thats a plan will I have everything I need ??
that seems faster and easier than the banjos

thanks guys

wow, 4 hours and no replys.

well i will jump in here even though i have a 3rd gen.

i just installed my FP gauge 2 weeks ago. i did NOT use the isolator, even though i had to buy it with the gauge. i went to NAPA and got an 1/8" male to female shutoff valve #6820. i cracked the valve just far enough to get the gauge to work. i used 1 continuous piece of 1/8" good quality plastic tubing (same as used for oil pressure guage applications) all the way to the gauge. i made sure to use the crimp ferrules designed for plastic. they are different than those for copper. i also paid close attention to the route of the tube to make sure there were no sharp corners or places where it could rub or vibrate and cable tied it often.

i wil consider this a good installation only if i have no problem for at least the next 3 years. there are obvious problems if diesel starts flowing in the cab, but with the valve just cracked, it wont flow too much before i smell it, and then i can quickly shut it off under the hood.

then there is the concern of which is easier to get off the carpet. diesel or antifreeze (the fluid used in the isolator). i had a car that had a heater core leak and after i replaced it, i could never get the antifreeze smell out of the carpet. plus i "tasted" it in my mouth when the heater was on. had to get rid of that vehicle.

i think i can tolerate the diesel smell, after all, i smell it all the time sitting at a light anyway. :D i have been able to wash diesel fuel out of my clothes successfully many times to where the odor is completely gone after 3 washes.

thanks for the input LRC

for 4 hrs dang near Ive been hitting the archives hard and almost every one are useing the isolator or an electroic sender or are all on 3rd gens . thanks for the part # also Im trying to get all my ducks in a row for the install date. still not sure where Im hooking to the motor @ .

But if i can use the clear boost looking hose for my Fp gauge Ill pick up the one from my link and try to find a neddle valve somewhere on the net for that size of line... ... I wonder if the kit will work for either way I chose to hook up the gauge???banjo or FF lid???

Im still gaining all the INFO thats humanly possible for the install date.

Thanks

DM

i forgot to mention, i got the billet fuel filter cap from geno's. that's where mine is connected. the 1/8" pipe to tubing compression fittings and tubing were included with the gauge kit.

what is a snubber ??and where do I get one??

And when I shake my pyro gauge the needle will move------- none of my other gauges do this is it normal???and will it jump around when I hit bumbs in the truck??

I may get the FF cap also

a snubber would be any device that keeps the gauge needle from jumping quickly. in the case of the FP gauge, the napa valve i installed acts as a snubber because it is just barely opened and makes the gauge respond slowly to pressure change. in other words, when i turn on the key, it takes the gauge about 4 seconds to come up to the correct pressure reading, when in reality, the pressure was at full in the filter housing within 2 seconds.

the pyro needle will move while on the bench, but shouldn't be a problem once you install it and attach the thermocouple.

I used the Genos 18" hose and went directly to the plastic line then to the back of my gauge. Some people put some sort of sleeve over the plastic line to protect it, I didn't and I haven't had any problems yet, but mine hasn't been in there very long.

I did not use an isolator or a needle valve and I get steady pressure. The install I did was easy and straight forward and it wouldn't be hard to add any of the above parts if I had to.

Hope this helps

Johnny

BTW the genos 18" hose just screws onto the shrader valve test port that sticks off of the VP44. So if you have a leak somewhere all you have to do is disconnect the hose from the VP44

will the other end of the genos hose connect to the fuel pressure line thats in the kit @ DPP ssee my link in my first post. .

Thanks

Chad

So... ..... to have eveything I need Ill have to have

18" fuel line from genos

Fp Install kit from DPP

Some sort of shut off/ needle valve

Is that all will I be fully equipt

for the ease of it all Ill go to my schrader for now maybe some banjos in the future.

I NEED TO ORDER THIS STUFF WILL THIS GET THE JOB DONE ?????

Check out DPP's kit in my link in the first post.

Thanks

DM

Always be Prepared .

Ill be out in the garage the day after X-mas doing this project Im trying to get it set up to where I wont have to leave to get anything. .

I think this set up will work but not sure I hope somebody keys in that has it done this way

DM

thought id chime in... a little late, but oh well, the reason for the isolator for the f/p guage is to not run diesel fuel into the cab. it poses a fire threat. and trust me, from a personal experience, u dont want your vehicle to catch on fire. dm, i offered to hook up sometime and see what u have and see what else u need, i havent heard back? what guages did u buy? did it come with a isolator?

a few more questions u need to think about for the rest of your guages:

1. do u have a tap and drill bit for the egt probe in the manifold and for the air horn for a boost tap?

2. are u going to run w/o a isolator?

3. go u have all the extra wire u will need for guage lights, etc?

4. how do u plan on getting power to the guages? fuse taps?

5. got a good space to run the wires from the probe, fuel line, and boost line though the firewall?

6. do u have paint for the guage pod?

7. do u have all the ness. gaskets for the air horn and turbo incase u tear one when removing them?

just checking to see how prepared u are?

let me know if u need help...

Cepp,

I still have your # Im gaining a general cences on install options to see whats best for me. You will be hearing from me when I decide the exact way Im doing it.

to answer some questions

1-IDO Need a tap and drill bit for my EGT probe!! I got the Piers Bost BOlt so Im cool there. I bout for got the EGT tap and BIT THANKS MAN :)

2-NO isolator for me I kind of like the diesel smell anyway :) NOT WORRIED ABOUT PROBLEMS.

3-What Gauge of wire should I pic up??

4-YEs Fuse tasps still looking for the right ones.

5-YES

6-I got a Gauge Gizmo and Im not going to paint it it looks pretty cool the way it is.

7-Im NOT REMOVEING THE AIR HORN OR THE TURBO.

later

DM

DO you think the install kit and the genos hose will work alone . by going to the schrader valve???

Gauge install

I'm going to keep a close watch on this post. I'm also going to install gauges right after the holidays.

I'm ordering DiProcol gauges and was told that you cannot run diesel into those gauges. It supposedly will cause the FP gauge to fail after some time.

The gauge does say must be used with an isolator you may be right I may have to get the isolator after all > Does anyone have the diprocals installed with out an isolator??

Thanks

DM

I kind of was figgering MUST was a safty thing >

Cant Wait Any Longer If I Want To Make My Install Date I Got To Order Tonight Been Preparing For A Month And A Half And Still Rushing .

Ill Order The Electrical Install Kit I Opted Out Of At First Due To Price But If It'll Save Time And A Head Ache Ill Get It Now Here It Is If Any One Is Following Me ----CLICK ME ------ PRICY LIKE I SAID BUT ITS GOT TAPS AND EVERYTHING

iLL ALSO ORDER THE fp INSTALL KIT -----CLICK HERE ------ it a must now because... ... ...

To make install date Ill have to pipe my Fp gauge from the gauge to the engine compartment and Ill do further reserch before choise witch option Ill go with

BANJO

FF CAP

GENO FUEL LINE

GREASE GUN HOSE

ISOLATOR

SCHRADER VALVE

ANTI FREZZE

NEDDLE VALUE

SNUBBER

... . AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH... . FOR GET IT... ..... ILL JUST PIPE THE GAUGE IN AND WAIT TO HOOK THE REST UP. money is also catching up $80 for the isolator I'll wait

it looks like it'll be an additional $200+ to complete Fp gauge install this project is WAY OUT OF BUDGET IF I knew the cost of the FP was going to be HALF what it is I would of went with the Fp warning light set up and Id got a trany temp gauge instead.

BE WARNED GAUGES ARE MORE THAN THEY AT FIRST SEEM.

1- DiPricol Black Face, Black Bezel 0-1600 Degree Pyrometer. Includes the "INCONEL" Thermocouple and LED Lighted Pointer. =$134. 99

Curious, how many gauges can you buy and how often would you have to replace them if you skip the isolator? Anybody else install a FP gauge without the "required" isolator?

I had ALOT of sucking up to do when my wife found out I spent $700 on gauges... .

700 that's nothing, I just spent 8k for transmission, injectors, Comp, exhaust brake, track bar, headlight wiring harness and a fuel pressure gauge. Weather has been really cold around my house. SNOKING

$700 was for the gauges only (see sig), At "only" $8k, you must be a much more prudent shopper than I have been... . ;)

Fortunately I have been able to use a lot of "She Money"

(money that "she don't know 'bout") :-laf
