The lower speed limit for vehicles towing is ridiculous. 55 when everyone else going, or trying to go, 65 or 70. And they will pop you for speeding. It's not bad on multi-lane highways but the smaller roads like 395 north out of Reno is not good.

Could not agree more, the 55 mph for vehicles towing is rediculous! Rarely is that law obeyed, but it sure would be nice to not be breaking the law when driving the 65-70 mph limit when towing, the speed that is legal for the other traffic.

I know one guy who got popped twice on I80 for going over 55 while towing. If it's that big a deal, split the difference and make the speed limit 60mph. Or, better yet, keep it at 65 and let everyone go that speed and pop the ones who are towing dangerously, i.e. no chains, bad tires, insufficient tow vehicle. Leave the rest alone. California: solving problems that don't exist.

I also wonder how many "Vehicles with trailers 55" signs they had to put up and how much it cost. You wonder why CA is in the hole?

And a short wheel base box truck can run 70 when a much more stable semi can only do 55MPH!!!! OR larger twin screw solo truck is limited to 55. What brainick figured this out????

Wow, twice for more than 55! Was he doing more than the regualr (non-towing) posted limit too? That sucks.

Agreed, there are plenty on unsafe vehicles on the roads, towing and not.

That's a good question. Never thought to ask. That would make a difference.

this is the sign approaching each direction at the scales in nebraska city and north platte, nebraska. I have seen pickups with trailers pulled over just past the scale. Other times, they fly on by. I always stop with my private pickup and trailer and have always gotten a green light.

rvs are exempt.... A truck with a fifth wheel is an rv..... Im assuming pickups pulling backhoes, dump trailers etc... However, it does say rvs are exempt....
