yeah, it's christmas eve for us russian orthodox types
I was headin to work this morning, it was snowing, but not too bad. Drivin' the dieselbeast. I guess I hit some ice, started sliding around... just as I regained control, I clipped a guard rail on the passenger side, and the ass end swung around. Next thought to go through my head was "oh *****, I think there was a semi behind me
". This was confirmed to be true when 80,000 lbs or so of truck slammed into me. Miraculously I walked away from it... the semi hit the passenger side of the bed, so the bed is practically folded in half and the passenger side of the frame is touching the drivers side of the frame, and the over-the-rails toolbox was ripped from the bed and landed 20 feet from the truck... The cab is in much better condition... a few dents and broken lights, and misaligned panels mostly from the frame twisting, but basically intact. But the bed got hit HARD... if the cab woulda been hit like that, I most likely wouldn't be here right now.
So this really sucks... my truck was my baby... but at least I'm alive. And on the bright side, I won't have a $761. 03 monthly truck payment to make... I'll hafta pick up a new winter ride, but prolly won't get another $40k truck... prolly gonna buy a $1500 beater to at least get me through to spring. Gotta be a full sized pickup though... there's no way in hell I'd be typing this right now if I hadn't been driving a 7,000 lb truck (plus another quarter ton of sandbags in the bed)... so I'm not about to drive around in a civic or metro...
Anyway, my baby's gone , but at least I'm still here to type this, so I gotta thank God. Wish me luck on my next winter beater.
