Please guys. I don't want to start a war or bashing. I just want to know how to get this thing to work. I'm in no way bashing the Smarty. I love the low-end hp. But I want my top end back without the pinging.

Where's Marco?

Oh we are not going to bash it :D frankly I like mine so far. :D

I Love My Smarty

You will have to pry it from my cold dead hands . I don't care how much it smokes and how touchy the throttle is. It put me in the 12s with a couple bolt ons and boxes :D . I am not even sure I want an upgrade for mine ;)

OK, I'm giving up... I just loaded the 90hp setting w/no timing and drove it quite a bit. Tried the TST on 1/0 it knocks so bad. At 0/1 there's no power in the truck at all, falls on it's face when you push the peddle. You guys, I'm giving up. Oh, and kiss cruise control goodbye on any setting. I can't do anything with it. I'm sending it back. My truck is faster with the TST/EZ stack. The only time I can feel difference is when the 130hp or more is loaded. And when it's up there, it's undriveable and my top end hp is gone because the TST has to be turned off on every setting. Any of the Smarty levels that ad timing I'm knocking really bad. The only time my truck doesn't ping is when the Smarty levels don't do timing. I've driven the TST Twins program and my truck is as fast and as snappy as the Smarty. I'll go that route with my Stage II CP3 and the twins in a few weeks. I'm not even going to wait for any of the updates. Thanks everyone for the suggestions and PMs.

Just wait for the new software. There is not much more you can do. I'm sure there is lots to come still. I wouldn’t go selling it or anything just yet.

I took a 2 hr ride with Rams-n-Hogs over the weekend and had my cruise set on mountains and flat areas. No surge at all. Hopefully he will get it straighten out. I think it is mostly isolated to the SO trucks as others have mentioned.

really? hmm, i don't like that. .

I have been keeping up with the smarty threads since the beginning. While I like the power, throttle responce, and smoke. The programming I feel was not beta tested enough. Some of use are having individual issues while some are having widespread issues. I have had my smarty sitting for the last month in my house since I have no second gear on my transmission while using the programmer, stock its fine???????? go figure. In the mean time I have purchased other boxes to solve my power needs :D . Don't get me wrong, I like the smarty but to have a 700 dollar programmer sitting for a month is not what I was hoping for. At least I know I am not the only one having problems with it. As it is I am awaiting news from Marco on the upcomming changes and what they will include.

Who else is running one on an SO? And are they going through the same things I am. Also, remember about the cam and injectors... not sure if that has anything to do with anything.

Hi Gang,

I've just got the update(s) finished. Last thing to do is to compile them and publish them on our web site. A few more hours and also this one will be done...

Richard,

believe me when I say that we HAVE beta tested these softwaresas much as possible. This time I went even went personally to the States in order to dyno test and and and...

Yet, we need to understand that the only REAL test for them softwares is the customers feedback!

Just as an example, the torque management you have today in Smarty is exactly how * I * like it. During the beta tests it seemed to me that it was a OK... I perfectly understand that we're not all the same. What works for me might not for another guy.

That's been the same with the VP Smarty. We went through SEVEN different updates before we got what the VP Smarty is today. I took it's time but at the end... I'd dare to say it's a 98% customer satisfaction.

That's the reason for which you're getting now three different software versions. Stock torque manegement, "Mild" TQM ( I hope it's mild enough :-laf ) and moderate TQM. Where " Moderate" is what's in the Smartys today.

I have obviously tried to address the various complaints I've heard from you guys.

I have no doubt that with the help of the CUSTOMERS feedback I'll have to change things more than once again . Whatever it takes to MEET YOUR NEEDS... .

Let's just look at the bright side of things. Smarty has never killed an ECM.

We have found only one real bug in it's firmware. (To me that alone is a success! ) Storing the key counts and whatever else works too... Not bad for a new product.

Ok, back to work now.

Marco

Marco - Just a thought. On your download page you mention Windows based computers... some of us (your customers) are using MAC. . 02¢

And thank you for your product and answer, and yes I am venting a bit about the beta testing thing. Just want to know if the trans issues that some of us are having with the 4. 5 and up trucks have been looked at?

Richard

Thanks for the reply Marco

I agree with you 100% I am having the same issues as you and am going to shelf my Smarty and just run the EZ, until the fix comes down, I hope.
