Is this sound more of a sledge hammer hitting the block

Exactly this sound! Even sounding like dropping a bunch of marbles or nuts and bolts into an empty tin can... and then shaking the can for good measure.

Bob got me the same program that driverno8 had, and it works great on my truck. The TST and Smarty play nice together again.

Sounds good. Looking forward to it being available to the rest of us.

Thanks Bob, but what is the torque management level of this version. I would like to have as much torque management relief as possible. Is Marco going to put together a version summary so we can understand what changes the different versions have??

It's based off the "mild" tm.

Well I just got back from Boise. Checked mileage on the way down, went 446 miles at 70 to 80 mph, Smarty only set on #3, and got just over 13 MPG, probably the worst I've ever gotten on the road, the best being 16. 93 MPG. I wasn't very happy with this. Marco, did you happen to take the timing out of the 502 version entirely?

However, I am very happy with the way the Smarty preforms with the TST now!! No timing rattle! SOTP says the best power combination yet. Will have to get some dyno time and get the real facts.

It seems that most everyone is running the Smarty in conjunction with other mods (injectors, box's etc) Has anyone tried the Smarty on a stock truck? In particular a 04. 5 325/600. I am considering a moderate power upgrade, but not looking to radically modify the truck.

Thanks for any input.

Me too, I have a 2004. 5/6speed, any comments on stock trucks would be appreciated. Was settings would normally be used for a totally stock truck ?

I am running the Smarty on a "stock fueling truck", the TST has been taken out for a reflash and will only be used in the future for in the cab adjustability when a pile of soot needs to be delivered to and offending party.

I am running SW1 and SW3 currently and enjoy the mileage gains (2-3 mpg) and the increased throttle response. I usually drive at 70mph and have found that as long as you don't abuse the throttle the mpg gains are there and there is no adverse affects to the clutch and such.

all of our testing was done on stock trucks except for fueling and clutch/transmission modification.

even the airboxes were stock :-laf

Mine is on a 305/555 everything is sock on my truck but the airbox and exhaust. I'm running the 306-202 program with the Smarty on level SW1 and I have tried level SW3 which is easy to make smoke. So I went make to level SW1.

I love it.

05 automatic transmissions and Smarty

Please let me start by saying that I am happy with my Smarty on the middle torque management level, Catcher #1. It is especially nice for towing, as it seems to lower EGTs from stock while slightly upping power.

However, I really miss the down-low torque of the "moderate" torque management Catchers.

I would like to keep the "moderate" level loaded in my Smarty. I think that the down-low power is the greatest of Smarty's many attributes.

Unfortunately, the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts are horrible under light throttle. So far, it doesn't feel like the 05 48re meshes well with the Smarty. Light throttle shifting is intolerable on the moderate settings, and only slightly better on the medium torque management programs.

This wouldn't bug me nearly as much if I could switch from a medium torque management setting to a "moderate" setting on the fly, or even in a few minutes, but having to erase Smarty, then reload Smarty, then reload the truck is kind of a pain.

Are any changes addressing the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts for 05 automatics planned? Running Smarty on the medium programs in order to tame shifts is bitter sweet - and I have little interest in the stock torque management programs - after feeling the responsiveness of the moderate settings.

My transmission is set up for towing w/ a triple disk converter, modded VB and billet input and intermediate shafts. It shifts perfectly without the Smarty.

Thanks Marco for taking the time to respond to feedback and address customers different needs for your product.

I know! :-laf

The 3. 07 version is a "change made for the 2005 and 2005. 5 trucks that had some "weird" problems. Most aparent on key #5.

redfuelrules,

would you please try this latest update and report then back?

You would like an update with a mix of version 2 and version 3? That I can do...

Thanks!

Marco

Marco,

I'll try out the new update today.

Thanks for putting so much time into answering questions and adapting your products to fit people's needs.

Just got my Smarty today and I've got a really dumb question. What is the difference between software numbers with additional timing and without? I've presently got my truck set to SW1 with the version 3. 07D 1. 02B, which I downloaded this morning. Anyway, if you guys would tell me the difference between additional timing and without, I'd really appreciate it.
Don't beat me up too bad!
Thanks,
Jack
