Anti theft switch ? 2006 auto transmission

Some A Hole tried to steal my truck last night. On my 99 with Auto. transmission. I was able to install a switch in place of the clutch switch. The 2006 with Auto. transmission. does not have the bracket and jumper for the clutch switch.

What is a good way of using a switch in the cab to install an anti theft switch ?

Do you have a sentry key or regular key? If you have a sentry key they are only going to steal it with a tow truck.

I have a key with a code in the key assy. I am not sure how the security system is to work. I understand the crooks have come up with a method to disable the factory alarm system before entering the truck. I reviewed information on Ravelco.com site and Jimmijammer.com and information on the links there see it as a problem.

Appreciate any input.

If your key end is gray then it has a chip and can only be started with the key. If it's black then it's just a regular key and can be hot wired. There's also a factory alarm noise maker to wake the neighbours. It uses the remote to enable/disable the alarm when you lock/unlock the truck.

An automatic also has a neutral safety switch so the starter will only work in Park or Neutral.

I have the black key and the document that was with the truck lists a remote keyless entry. It does have the factory alarm.

I have a black key with three buttons on it. One to lock,one to unlock and a panic button.

I think ALL the integrated key-remotes include a passive immobilizer (aka chip) but you should check with a dealer service department. You normally get a discount on your vehicle insurance too.

do i have sentry key? drive a 05 ram in my keychain its a black little thing with 3 buttons panic lock unclock. but some days ago i noticed i can take my key out of the ignitionlock and go into the mall and keep my car running why have i not noticed this before its useful like when i forgot somthing at home and need my keys.

or do it just check the key at the start? what is the car doing if key isnt there?

That's a defective lock cylinder but it sure is handy.

its handy alright but my key isent sentry key right? on the keychain a have a black remote with panic/unlock/lock button
and now sometimes when i go to the stor or out for a coffe i keep my engine running and
take out my key lock the car and just go...
usually around the village i always leav my keys in but.
so if i dont have sentry i can order keyless remote start from mopar right
