about 150k. Third injection pump. Second transmission. Second Torque converter and its been rebuilt once. second lift pump. New steering components top to bottom. Lsd is bad. transmission is failing 170k on it. A few seals here and there. 4x4 wont engage. And Im still hooked. I love her more than ever and dont plan on buying any other truck. I must admit I am a super dooper severe duty driver.

The only vehicle Ive ever owned that kept up with me was a 97 subaru legacy. It made it to 150k almost completely without any help. I did replace pads and rotors on occasion. $500 worth of seals and labor. I broke my sway bar while jumping it. My exwife totaled it for me around the time I was getting tired of the payments. Very considerate. I have my eye on the new Subaru SUS 6 cylinder making 220 hp but I think it might be too much power for the weight of the vehicle to make it practical on Ice.

100,740

replaced lift pump at 97,000 miles, throttlecable broke at 84,000 miles, tracbar at 94,000 miles, brakes were replaced for the first time at 98,000 miles.

125,000K

I have a '99 with 125,000+ (will be 126,000 by the end of the week). One lift pump at 87,000 and the second one is marginal now. One MAP sensor at 104,000.

Other than the above, no problems and as happy as I can be. I tow between 10 and 15K regularly. The truck is completely stock, except for the muffler removed just over a week ago.

The more I drive it, the more I love it!Oo. :D

miles

'01 with 104,000 miles. 2 lift pumps, one rear axle seal, over 17. 5 mpg for every gallon I've used. Original tires have 75,000 miles and life left, brakes have about 1/3 left. I was over 18 mpg average, until I bought a gooseneck, and started doing more hauling.

My 1999 that I bought new has 94,000 miles on it and runs better every day. Aside from front brake pads and three sets of tires, I have not had to spend a penny on this truck! Nothing has gone wrong or broke--not even a turn indicator bulb, headlight bulb or the like. It has never seen the inside of a dealer except for routine mainrtenance. My best friend bought an identical truck at the same dealer about a week after I did and although he has somewhat fewer miles that I do, he also hasn't had a single problem. I guess we're lucky! Thanks guys for all the great responses. It's good to know there are a lot of 24V's with over 100K without any serious troubles (I sure feel a lot better now). I guess I'll keep it for another 30 years :D

Everybody have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year :)

I am pretty happy with the 138,000 on my 98. 5, 24V.

List includes the following:

Cracked Block-105,000-warranty replaced

Cracked manifold-75,000-warranty replaced

Auto- rebuild with DTT- 92,000-pull 36' 5'er fulltime

Complete 3rd member replacement-ouch! Insurance claim, whew!

too long a story for here.

Lots of front brake linings, oil changes, add on Edge boxes and injectors. Usual stuff.

Overall, I'd buy another new one in a second.

My Mom has over 150,000 on her 99 (see sig) 5th gear, rear diff seal, shattered clutch at 125,000, grid heater relay, oil pan gasket has slight leak, had to replace rear leaf springs when a 2000 pound round hay bail fell off of the forks of a fork lift into the bed.

98. 5 has 150k and runs much better than the day I bought it. Most of my problems were a direct result of my upgrades.

12k Added TST PowerMax + EGT & Boost Gauges.

33k Added DD3 Injectors, 2 different sets.

33k Replace Injector connector tubes because of fuel leaks.

34k Replaced cracked intake manifold (Watch that EGT!)

35k Back to stock injectors (too radical, hot, and smokey for me)

40k Replaced Thermostat

90k Replaced TPS (APPS) - warranty

105k Upgraded Powermax to PM3 and added 275 injectors (Vroom!)

110k Added Fuel Pressure Gauge

111k Replaced Lift Pump

120k Replaced Clutch (fried because of power updates)

130k Replaced valve cover gasket (R&R too many times for Injectors)

130K with a cracked block

This is what I believe

I think this is a casting problem

There is no way this crack just started after the 100K warranty. This crack was there and just now showed up

Does anyone know how to speak with at DC or Cummins

This is a Cummins engine. 500,000 plus

110,000 Miles

Lift Pump replacement @ 47,000. No other problems.

Great TRUCK !

1998. 5 24v Quad cab Auto Rapter Box. :)

Still Goin' Strong.........

211,000 miles and going strong. One lift pump replacement and then the brakes routinely. DTT transmission at 198,000 miles. I pull all the time with this truck. Just completed 11,000 miles in 5 weeks and ran great. EZ installed since 100,000 miles. After the DTT was in I installed DD1's and now I am wondering how I lived with out them.

Welcome to the TDR

Try a search for Cracked Block and look for the "53" threads

Mine has 103000 and no engine problems, not even a lift pump. Steering problems, brake problems, t-case problems, power seat problems but no engine trouble.

105,000 miles

... and 3 lift pumps, a set of front brakes, clutch (which was due to the BOMBS, stock clutch would have made it another 50k or 60k), DT track Bar, a bunch of Tires. Put most of the BOMBs on at around 80k. I LOVVVE this Truck.
