Just wondering if any of you guys with the DTT VB and TC have experienced any engine braking improvements over the lousy stock setup. Thanks!

Steve

With the Smart Controller and an Exhaust Brake, you have it all. Without it, the DTT stuff does make a difference. Though, the 2nd gear lockup feature already built in and used with the Smart Controller is very handy indeed for low speed control through the hilly stuff.

It appears that there is some improvement to engine braking with the DTT VB and TC. I know there are a lot more DTT owners out there that can add to this discussion. Let's hear it!

BTW, is there anyone in the central Indiana area that has the DTT VB and TC setup? I'd really like to drive a truck with this setup.

Thanks!

zman, yes I have experienced very obvious engine braking with my new DTT 93% TC. Before, with the OE or BD TCs, when letting off the throttle the RPMs would lower to about 1000-1100 RPM... now they stay up around 1500+ RPM. That is the trick (VERY EFFICIENT) steel stator doing its thing. #ad

I can't wait to get that Smart Controller installed so I can start using my exhaust brake again... I was real spoiled with it's additional braking abilities.

Yeppers... . everything that the guys have said above is the honest truth... . and just for the record. I wouldn't trade my DTT setup + smart controller (including pacbrake) for the world... nor a manual transmission. My auto setup is awesome to say the least!!!

Might have already been discussed but can't find out if a Jacobs EBrake would work with controller. Or other ebrakes? Thanks.

The only E-brake DTT endorses is the PacBrake. The BD E-Brake is too much for an Automatic. Ask Bill K. if you're doubting, or want it straight from "The MAN".

That's true however, there are those of us that purchased other equipment long ago and really like it's performance. Bill recommended I reduce the idle pressure of my BD exhaust brake to prolong my TCC lining. That is the way I'm going to go. He!!, I already ditched a TorqLoc, a PressureLoc and a perfectly good TC and VB to go with the superior DTT stuff. How deeply do you want me to bleed anyway?
