Some where in my 2003, Quad Cab there is a body penetration large enough to let a mouse in. I have looked and looked and can find no openings. Has anyone found any openings.

I set a trap last night, caught him by the tail. When I opened the door this morning the mouse ran with the trap up in the console area then the trap pulled off him.

Now, I have a Hurt/Scared Attack Mouse hiding in my truck ha ha.

Actually this isnt a laughing matter. Ive had two deals with mice. Both were very bad. They like to eat wiring and plastic like our dashes are made out of. Until you find where they are getting in, I would put Decon under the hood, seats ect.

I am worried with Decon that the mouse might die somewhere in the truck and stink it all up. The traps are set again tonight. Somewhere DC has a opening, I gotta find it.

my only thought is the air intake for the heating/air conditioning system. if not on top of the cowl, take a look under the cab in the heater box area. if you have air conditioning, i think there is a drain device (should be closed on the end). it may have broken or fallen out.

i also remember reading some posts about holes in the inner fenders and firewall that allow fresh air into the heating system.

problem is, i don't think they could get past the heater or air conditioning cores. maybe they could get in through the recirculation door.

fwiw.

Living in the Florida Keys, all sorts of wildlife is a fact of life. One of our biggest problems is tree rats, otherwise known as Norwegian roof rats. Same critter. I learned right away to drill a hole in the corner of all the traps & tie 'em to something. Otherwise, they'll run off with the trap if not a fatal hit when sprung. I have a '56 T'bird that is rarely driven. I keep Decon in it all the time.

Yeah Decon, sure. I had decon in my barn, I put a bunch of it in and all I wound up with was a tool belt full of decon pellets and an airbox on my motorcycle full of decon.

I just use traps now.

The trap got the little sucker by the neck last night. Now plugging up the hole in the cowl.

Its wonderous how they get in, climb a tire, get on axle housing, then get on frame, then travel till they find a hole.

Mouse has to eat. Leave no food in the truck and set a trap outside under the truck with tasy cheeze.

Glad you got him that way. If you think diesel fumes are bad, load the little sucker up with Dcon and let him get into an inaccessible hole in the cab. Hope there aren't any more holes to let his kinfolk in.

I had a mouse get into the blower motor on my Grand Cherokee when it was really cold one winter. I fired up the Jeep, flipped on the heater, and all I could hear was the fan blades beating the snot out of something. Sounded a little disgusting. It was fine until it got warm outside... Took a while to clean him out of the housing under there... Don't poison them in your truck. That smell is horrid.

If it's large enough to let a mouse in, you can have it when you find it :D :-laf

Sorry, just in one of them moods, lol.

There are several holes under the windshield cowl large enough for mice or rats to come through. Check my reader rig gallery out there are more photos located there of the holes. I would skip the Decon treatment because the smell been there done that had to get a new refer a new dishwasher and a new stove in my house. If you are a sharpshooter you can use a 22 with a small load or a pellet gun and be patient just be sure to hit the bugger or you might cause other damage. Get rid of any food for sure this is an option in a truck not a kitchen however. :)
