Ford has a long history, imo, of buiding components just good enough, and sometimes missing the mark. For example, the 90s Taurus transaxle, and the several diesels Ford has used that were supposed to be good enough for a pickup. The Cummins option isn't cheap, about $7800 in 2013 and $8000 in 2014. The Aisin is also expensive, $2650. But they are worth the cost, imo. If you shop for price, you will get another brand, just like there are Walmart shoppers for whom Chinese knock-offs are "good enough. " It all depends on what you are buying and how important it is to you.
