The Aisin/Hemi combo in the chassis cab is only available in a 4. 44 ratio, seems this powertrain will eat up alot of gas. It sure would scare me away from buying it as an alternate to the CTD if it was available in the 3500 pickup config as I'm just an occassional RV hauler.

AFAIK, the only 66 is the Mopar 66RFE for gas engines. The only Aisin offered now is the AS69RC. The 69 has a higher torque rating for the PTO than the old AS68RC.

According to AllPar, it is the AS66RC Aisin for cab/chassis, with the Hemi, with cylinder deactivation during PTO use to save fuel.

yeah. . CC only... think Ram is doing a GREAT thing there making the gasser available with a PTO drive. With all the rediculious issues weve had with our 6. 7L Ford diesels, many companies are looking into alternatives. Mainly ditching the diesels in favor of gassers.

It's too bad Ford is putting such a bad taste in the industry's mouth.

Ford has a long history, imo, of buiding components just good enough, and sometimes missing the mark. For example, the 90s Taurus transaxle, and the several diesels Ford has used that were supposed to be good enough for a pickup. The Cummins option isn't cheap, about $7800 in 2013 and $8000 in 2014. The Aisin is also expensive, $2650. But they are worth the cost, imo. If you shop for price, you will get another brand, just like there are Walmart shoppers for whom Chinese knock-offs are "good enough. " It all depends on what you are buying and how important it is to you.

I made the mistake of giving a dealer my phone number last week, and he keeps calling wanting me to come in and spec out a 2014 Laramie CTD, which I am going to order eventually, but not until they can get me a brochure to study, and a truck to look at. He wants me to buy right now, but neither one of us know what I'm getting! I have figured out the '14's have a different frame and coil rear springs for a better ride, with the same ratings as leafs. Still driving my good old '97 with 400,000 on it in the mean time, so no hurry.

I never do that. . I always ask for their business card, but Im pretty blunt when I tell them Ill just check back and they cannot have my number.

I never was able to find a paper copy of the 2013 brochure but downloaded it on www.ramtrucks.com

You can also go there and search inventory at all dealers within a 1000 mile radius from the zip code you type in. If you are ready, you can save $4000-6000 getting a 2013 instead of ordering a 2014.
