I noticed my new truck was built in July of 05. It must have sat on the lot for a while. It had 172 miles on it when I bought it, but I used that to my advantage!! LOLOL My rear tires are cracking a tiny timy bit, but everything else loks clean. Is there really a problem with a truck sitting that long???

I guess nobody wanted the Long bed 3500 SRW! But I looked forever! Thanks for the replies!

i don't think you have anything to worry about. obviously it was test driven many times. so at least it was moving from time to time.

as long as your warranty started the day you bought it, it's still new. be happy and enjoy it.

good luck

I'd say that it is OK. You still have a warranty if some thing should go bad. Id change the Engine oil and all the engine filters early, Maybe the transmission fluids too. Don't Bomb it till you are certain that she is OK  Moose00

hey roperteacher, congrat on the new truck. My truck was built in Oct 05, I bought it in the end of Feb 06, it had virtually no miles on it, so I think you might be better off than you think. You can check to see how many hours are on it, that might also give you some idea about it having been started every so often and brought up to temp. My truck did have some hours on it that gave me the impression that had taken place.

I changed my oil out early just in case. And like you, do a regular interval that is better than recommended. I have had virtually 0 problems with anything major, hust some annoying little code stuff that the dealer has flashed away. You have a new truck with a warranty and I'm sure your dealer will take care of you without any problems.

The only mods I have done regarding anything engine was a Cool Blue Hose, TAG, and Cool Power mod to the stock airbox AND I installed the Glacial 2-micron fuel filter with the big line kit. My dealer is OK with all that and so are most of them. Better breathing intake and better fuel filtering to protect the injectors. I also installed gauges so I would better understand how the truck is functioning, my first diesel.

Again, CONGRATS on the new truck. Glad you found a truck to trip your trigger. Have fun and enjoy.

Hope it didn't come from Louisiana.

YOu can't be serious about that statement???? I looked back on my window sticker and it says made in Mex of course, and then says it was shipped to Carlsbad, CA. Thats near San Diego. About 60 miles from me.

Just looked at my origional Window sticker

I just looked at my origional Window sticker. At the very bottom it states by federal law the sticker cannot be removed until the vehicle is SOLD to the ultimate buyer. It says assembled in Mexico ( Of course) and it was SOLD TO " Worthington Dodge" of Carlsbad Calif. Which is about 80 miles from the dealership I bought it from. Makes sense that they drove it there with the miles it had on it. Probably a dealer trade, so No, it did not go to LOUSIANNA! Oo.

It's because of the Hurricane that he was referring too. Like the reason it sat so long at the dealership is because it came from there. It was manufactured just prior to the Hurricane.

If the truck was built July '05 how could it be an '06? Model year switchover I thought occurred in August. roperteacher take a look at your door sticker and tell us what the 6-digit MDH number is.

I got my 06 in July, manufactured in Oct or Nov of 05. Not many miles on it when I got it. Now I have 8000+ and no problems. I think you'll be fine. Have fun!

To clarify my comment about Louisiana, I was simply referring to the many vehicles that were subjected to the flood waters after the hurricanes. I saw a news clip aerial above a Dodge dealer with about 30 new trucks on the lot, water up to their hoods. I would not wish this on anyone.

Explain Please!

My comment about Louisiana referred to aerial scenes I saw on the television during the flooding from the Hurricanes last year. I remember seeing a Dodge dealership with new trucks sitting in water up to their hoods. Unscrupulous dealers could clean these trucks up and get them back into circulation. I think everyone is aware of this possibility. I would hope no one ends up with this scenario. JH
