This is the first truck I have ever had with the electric shift. Two previous Dodges (with a floor lever and CAD), and my F350 with manual hubs and a floor lever.
THe truck I had originally ordered had a floor shift, and when I got this one instead, I was like, well, OK... .
That being said, this thing shifts virtually instantly and flawlessly, in and out. My Ford lever also shift instantly, but the 97 Ram sometimes took up to 5 seconds shift in with that lever and the center-axle-disconnect, and longer to go back to 2WD.
Now that I have this little switch (just like with power windows, etc) it would be hard to go back.
On edit: I have not tried 4LO yet, but if you put the transmission in neutral, foot and brake, shift into 4LO as you remove your foot from the brake and roll a few feet, she *should* pop right in.
