Rams' Trailer TPMS anyone?

RMecum,

Good looking rig.

This was earlier this month, just a small Airforums get together, over 30 rigs. This was a fish fry dinner.

There was another air forums trip hunting for Geofes in so cal unfortunately too backed up tobe able to make it

Thanks Gary! Got it home in the driveway now... . headed for Salt Lake for a week tomorrow.

Yo Hoot that trailer is at South Side Park here in Sacramento! I don't think it's an Airstream tho... I've seen it but never walked up and looked at it close, guess I need to do that. I guess it's OK to look at but I wish it was restored and on the road... I feel that same when I see an "airplane on a stick"!

Great thread, Bob! I knew I had seen you on Air Forums.

Here's our rig, 2010 Classic 30 on pick-up day:

Kry226,

Good looking rig, my truck is silver, my AS is 30' but your shot for some reason the AS looks like its really long. We have almost the same interiors too.

Got the I'm not at a campsite blues today.

That's a beautiful Airstream. Obviously outstanding workmanship. I sent a link to my daughter.

All this chatter with photos of Airstreams is bringing back a lot of memories and the enthusiasm for Airstreams I had for years.

Thanks guys. Like you guys, the wife and I are dying to get out. Sadly, we haven't even dewinterized yet here in Marylandistan. The winter just won't give it up.

Gary, it's just the wide angle, I'm sure. Sometimes I look at it just the right way, like in the parking lot at a truck stop, and it looks like a 2 mile train.

Harvey, do it! Just get two A/Cs for the Texas heat. And that Trade Wind was a pure work of art. If I had money to burn, I'd have bought that sucker right on the spot.

Again, this is a great thread. Thanks, Bob.

Harvey,

It's not too late. I'd join you for some campfire time if our paths cross someday.

Gary,

I'd enjoy meeting up with a lot of you guys around a campfire. I hadn't thought about it but I guess I haven't done that since I left the WBCCI thirteen years ago. I enjoyed the Airstream club but having spent essentially all of my adult life and part of my teenage years in the Navy I wasn't fond of the ceremonies, officers, flags, etc. I had experienced enough real military to not want any quasi-military games. The final annoyance that pushed me out was the continual badgering to be the next chapter president. Those folks were all old, long retired, had nothing to do and I had just bought another rent house, a dump, and had gutted it and was rebuilding it from the wall studs inward. One old timer kept coming to my jobsite everyday bugging me to agree to be their next president while I was there with all new windows and doors to install, complete new wiring to do, insulation, sheetrock, and more. I was up to my neck in work and they wanted me to volunteer for more. I vowed during the last visit I was going to allow my upcoming renewal to lapse.

They were all good people and I enjoyed just being a member.

Harvey,

I enjoy my version of camping, we used to tent camp only but I don't regret getting the stream and here in SC its too hot for tents for me. For us campfire time and outdoor cooking is what we want. Got quite a cast iron collection to cook with.

We've been approached to join WBCCI many times, we might someday more out of respect for the brand and heritage, BUT I don't need "Roberts Rules of Order" sorta stuff to enjoy a good time. We also had a bit of that when we were active in GWRRA.

Gary,

Yeah, from what I've heard and read on the Goldwing website GWRRA loves to play some of the same "organizational structure" and officer games as WBCCI. That silliness bores me.

Actually I remembered another campfire type event I attended with the Dallas TDR group. I knew most of them from my first TDR rally at Kerrville and one of the members who is still a member here but rarely posts organized an RV campout at a lake and park in greater Dallas. A group of us, attended and had a great time sitting around outside laughing and talking.

I tried to talk the organizer into organizing another one a few years ago but he's a young father now with a career, young children to raise, and probably a lot of young friends he'd rather hang out with.

My wife and I used to enjoy that kind of thing as often as we could.

The past two years I've been taking motorcycle trips and the fifthwheel has been lonely out in my building with the also unused truck that used to pull it.

I've got the same trailer/floor plan. They came out with your wood option in '06 or '07... wish I had that! My '05 didn't have disc brakes so I had Inland RV in SoCal put on 4500 lb axels and disc brakes... the Kodiak set up... it's awesome. I've also moved up to 16 inch wheels for better tire options so between the axels and wheels I've got better ground clearance... . no more tail dragging!

I also noticed you have the same exact tires on your Dodge as I do... best tow rig/trailer set up ever! (for me anyway!)

I had Jackson Center install the 16" wheel and Michelin package plus spare (same as on the Eddie Bauer) while at Alumapalooza in 2011. We got rid of the Goodyear Marathons as quickly as we reasonable could, and actually sold them at the swap meet held during the same event.

The hickory is very nice! Actually, we also love how Colonial orders their trailers. Most of them get the carpet delete, as well as a 600w inverter, and the 2nd A/C in the bedroom.

I've been looking at a disc brake set-up as I have my rear street-side "never adjust" brake locking up on me at slow speeds. I need to get in there and give it a general look-see, and possibly back it off a little to see if that helps. But the disc brake package is very intriguing indeed.

Also, I really like the Dura Grapplers. I had no complaints from the previous set of Terras, but these are so much smoother and quieter. And though it seems counter-intuitive with the higher weight ratings, these tires have a softer feel than the Terras did. I love them all around.

Kry226,
I really like your the interior of your trailer. I have a 94 model Classic 30 which was the first year of the floor plan. My trailer is 6" narrower than yours. I figure when the axles need replacing I will probably upgrade to disk brakes as I hope to keep this trailer for quite sometime.
Towing with my 09 2500 and a new brake controller I was really happy last weekend, I feel like I have a really nice setup. Last weekend I had to enter the interstate on a ramp with a steep grade. The main interstate also had a steep grade but the power of this truck makes towing fun. I was able to merge with heavy traffic going over 70 mph. I normally don't travel that fast, just brief spurts sometimes to get through heavy traffic.

It's too bad some of you guys have a negative feeling about the WBCCI. We have been members for approximately 2 years now and it has been a lot of fun. At a trailer rally we may have a business meeting that lasts about 15 minutes at most to talk about the treasurers report and anything else on the agenda. The rest of the time its all about fun. I haven't seen a blue beret worn yet and you never will on my head.

RMecum,
I notice you have 4500 lb replacement axles. How does you trailer ride? What is the year, length and weight of your trailer that you felt the need for heavier axles. My trailer has ~ 7400 lbs on the axles plus ~800 tongue weight loaded for the weekend and 50 gallons of fresh water. The trailer has 4000 lb axles. Did you have a noticeable difference in stopping power over the drum brakes (I know silly question)?

Thanks, Crispy! My 04 handles the trailer really well, power-wise, and I am pretty good at using the Tow/Haul button when necessary. I am still using an old Jordan controller, and I keep praying it doesn't go out on me. With camping load, I think I am around 15-16K. However, I am not really impressed with my Reese Dual Cam's ability to stop, prevent, reduce, or otherwise control sway. My WD is dialed in pretty good according to the CAT scales, but I cannot get the sway as gone as I would like it to be.

Currently saving for a ProPride.

Kry226,

Nothing starts a discussion like hitches and it goes on and on. The hitch you are saving for certainly has its fan club, so does the other one and then the rest seem to be all over, none seems the slam dunk winner. Currently on Airforums the Anderson has been going wild but not w/o issues, the Equalizer has fans etc. but the one that does not have a large following that caught my eye is the Husky Centerline, take a look at how it addresses sway, it wants to return to straight due to cam heads against Belleville springs. It caught my eye. I'm doing well with my used equalizer, but steel rubbing on steel ain't my idea of how to do the job but it is working fine.
