Any truth to this new Calif law?

The reason Ca. has passed so many stupid laws IS partly the Millions of Immigrants who have overrun this state. Every element of life, from commuting to schools is CROWDED by the INVASION of Immigrants. Ca. population has doubled since 1990 from immigration.



I say chop it off at the fault line... and I LIVE here! I'll take my chances with the Ocean any time over the Mexican gang members!

Name it and its probably grown here, Fruits=peaches,oranges,apricots,etc

Nuts=walnuts,almonds,pecans,etc

vegetables=tomatoes,lettuce,squash,etc

I know there are certain types of grain grown in Ca, but its out of my area of exp.



lots of live stock operations too.



I hate to give away this secret but, CA has the 2nd largest area of National Forest and other public lands in the US.



Whereas other states who will remain name less are up to 95% privately owned, don't get me wrong I'm all for private property rights but not all of us can afford a couple thousand acres.

It seems rather amazing to me that every time a thread involving California comes up, we get a good bashing. You don't live here, and the comments being made only sum up how misinformed the rest of the country really is about the state.



For your information on crops:



Calififornia is and has been for the last 50 years the #1 food and agriculture producer.



It is the #1 Dairy producing state in the nation, so there is some truth to the state being "full of it":-laf



There are more than 89,000 Farms reigistered with the Ca Dept of Agriculture.



And yes, Grapes are the #2 crop behind Dairy, of which Cali produces the largest # of grapes and vineyards.



There are some 350 different crops that are grown here.



I'm not trying to start any :-{}, If you guys want to go around bashing your own "brothers" then go over to the ford site. I'm simply trying trying to defend a state that gets pi$$ed on every time someone brings the name up. There are plenty of things wrong in each in every state in the Union.



And I agree 100% that the media is responsible for the bad name. Some jacka$$ in hollywood makes a protest and stink or some dumb treehugging hippy from Berkley gets up in tree and refuses to get down because they are going to cut it down... ... then there's all of the horrible bloodshed, violence, gang problems and crime.....

That is what the rest of the world thinks they know about us.



Rest assured, that thankfully these MORONS comprise an extremely small percentage of the population and are not even worthy of representing us. As was earlier stated, California- even LA for god sakes, used to be a great place to live. Then the rest of the country and world for that matter, started sending us their leftovers, and now just look at the place.



For those of you who've never been here, I'd HIGHLY reccomend avoiding places like Los Angeles and Oakland- you've obviously gotten enough of what those places are like and have already created a misguided opinion. Try places you don't know anything about, the central Coast, the endless ranges of mountains and open farmlands- pretty hard to find anyone out there- let alone Gang Bangers.

Wouldn't hurt my feelings to slice Pittsburgh and Philly right out of our state either.



Maybe Miami, New York City, Dallas have a mess of pollution, but nothing like LA.

Things change

My Aunt and Uncle and Cousins lived in LA in the 60's. I use to visit them on summer vacation. That was the time to live in LA. They had a house where some of the Car rental parking lots are now located at LAX. It was a nice neiborhood. They moved to Thousand Oaks years ago. I lived in Atlanta Georgia from 1986 thur 1998. When I moved to Atlanta in 1986 it was great. It is now way way way to crowded. I guess the best way to live is in a 5th wheel with your Dodge CTD to pull you to another area when the one your in is taken over.

That's the main reason I live on a farm surrounded by the National forest. No noisy or obstrusive neighbors, and most of all no gang bangers. LOL And I wasn't bashing by asking what crops are grown in Cali. I was simply asking a question. And don't worry Arizona was also filling up with immmigrants when I left the military in 1990 and they are immigrating into Missouri to work on the turkey farms and in Branson at all of the hotels and food joints.

Just for the record, SW Missouri is a terrible place to live. Gang wars, high taxes, etc. etc. Please spread this to everyone you know. I think it would be better to live in a prison then in SW Missouri. If I was an immigrant I would much rather live somewhere else.



Just trying to do my part to keep this place as sparsely populated as possible.

Yep, I still own a house in Elverta, next to the county line. Worked on Beale AFB for 14. 5 years, so I know the area pretty well. Don't know how the rice slipped my mind, was thinking of wheat and such. I remember a few years ago when the rice farmers were complaining about the import restrictions on rice in japan.

Again, I'll gladly trade you. Mine was $2890. 00 for 2002. That's a 2200 sq ft on 1/3+ acre.



In case you didn't know, property is out of control in Orange County especially. Median house is now over $300K. It's scary, but that's what happens when you run out of land to build on.





Orange is in the northeast side of Orange County, I live about 2. 5 miles from Edison Field (CA Angels) and about 5 Miles from Di$neyLand



Hey Pit- Other than the weather, and, at one time the booming job market, I can't for the life of me figure out people are still trying to get in here. Housing and cost of living is out of control, earthquakes and all stringent EPA and AQMD laws... ..... Unfortunately for me, the family business is here, so here I am. Having lived in Southwest Colorado for a few years, I can think of a million more beautiful places to live. You just have to know where to go in Cal to get away. But with the population out of control, its getting harder and harder to do that :{ As soon as the family business sells, I'm out of here. But I can remember a time when I really did enjoy living here.

I spent a winter in LA just a few years back, went mountain biking in the days while my friends worked. I was surprised how nice the mountains surrounding LA are and no one is in them. Figured that folks down there must think the close by mountains are crowded so they drive to the Sierras. Spent eight days riding the Pacific Crest Trail from Palm Springs to near Lancaster, only saw two other people.

Some places are surprising. For example, Boulder Creek. This little burg where everyone knows one another is so close to the bay area that you can see San Francisco Bay from some places. A lot of people there work as loggers. My youngest daughter and her husband lived there for a couple of years while he worked in the log woods.

You're complaining about rebuilding Malibu houses? How 'bout all the darn farmers/home owners on the Mississippi delta that get flooded out every couple of years? CA doesn't have the market cornered.....



Get rid of Sacramento, Bay Area & Santa Barbara to San Diego and CA becomes very conservative. Unfortunately, the majority of the states voting population is in those areas.

Serious question about splitting Ca into mulitple states. How would 13 northern counties LEGALLY support themselves? If pot were legalized it wouldn't be any problem but since it's not I'm really curious. I know Lake County is one of the poorest in the state.



I was thinking of confusion hill or Hwy 36 out by the state park for the banged up redwood trees.

Hey Brian, at least you don't have much grass to mow I think all of these places that keep getting destroyed over and over again because of flooding and erosion and Hurricanes should get no government help. anybody that is stupid enough to build in a flood zone or on the beach should be rich enough to buy private insurance or have the money to cover their own loss. I know it is more complicated then this and there are exceptions but I am talking about the people you are referring to that keep rebuilding in a flood area and every 4-5 years they do it again and we pay for it

Grizzly Creek on SR 36 does have some scarred up trees, but not ALL of them. That place is a little dangerous in high wind. A redwood fell on a car driving thru about ten years ago. Smashed it flat to the pavement. Richardson Grove has some bark knocked off EVERY tree next to the road. One tree had a long aluminum strip off some RV stuck in it up pretty high for over a year.



Beef, dairy, lumber, and tourii would be enuff to support the state of Jefferson. Don't want too good of an economy or we would be over populated. Plenty of jobs working for the sheriffs chasing pot farmers too.

With the glorious state of Jefferson you would have a small population, so then you write the constitution to make sure the state gov. stays small. Govt tends to be like an virus it just keeps growing until the antibodies whittle it back, unfortunately unlike my analogy, there is no known cure for Govt.

Keeping the state gov. small would be easy. Put the state capitol in Hyampom. Then make it unlawful to fix the roads going into the place.

The same reasons for the state of Jefferson are going on in eastern Oregon and Washington where the masses in the coastal cities rule the rural eastern folks. Eastern WA was talking of succeeding especially when the folks in Seattle suggested building a dedicated to trash train line to the east because their landfills are getting full. Didn't go over well with the folks in eastern WA. Perhaps an even bigger state that included N. Calif and eastern OR & WA would have a better chance at succeeding.



Joe I think Hayfork would be a better place for the capitol.
