on their NV4500's from the old style fork shifter to the newer one for the 95 thru 97's? I just did and when I went to get the leather boot that goes over the transfer case shifter and the gear shifter, wouldn't you know the dealer doesn't list the double style at all for the 95 thru 97's. What gives? All they have is where the transfer case has its own rubber under boot and leather cover and the transmission shifter has its own rubber under and leather cover. This new shifter is so much smaller that there is a blast of wind and the noise is awful. I would like to get the double leather boot that fits this shifter. Anyone know anything about this? Is the dealer crazy or am I "Just out of luck"? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

I also have a good used one for sale. What I need is information as to the double boot in my truck and where I can get another one that will fit my new shift lever as it seems the dealers don't even sell it.

P. S. Tell your buddy to hang on to it as they don't make parts to the manual xmissions in our trucks anymore.

When I converted my 96 to the newer smaller diam shifter I got a piece of delrin plastic and made a sleve / bushing to take up the gap. Made it so it is a snug slip fit on shifter and then put a ridge in it for the boot to register on. simple

They didnt use the newer top cover until 1998 in the dodges. All the 1994-1997's had the shifter boot with a big hole. The 1998 5 speeds went to a console and different shifter boots for the different shifters. What you are asking for dose not exist. I used a chevy shifter and tower when I converted mine because the chevy shifter is fat at the bottom and fits great. The chevy shifter wont thread on to the dodge shift tower though because it uses bigger threads. The dodge and chevy top covers are the same but not the tower with the 4 bolts. Chevy started using the newer top cover in 1995 where dodge didn't until 1998.

tlgdiesel,

Thats great information that I didn't know. But the old shifter top in the dealers computer stopped in 95 which is what I have. After 95 they show the newer type screw on shifter and shifter boots. That is why I am confused.

The one you are looking for will not fit the late shifter lever but you can adapt the old style to fit the new style lever the # for the old style lower boot is Dodge #52078125 and the upper is 52078126 I used those boots for a conversion on a 96 4wh dr.
