Where else on earth can you have radical temp swings like this?

Stupid moves in the snow

Anyone going to the Barrett Jackson auction this weekend? I'll be out there Friday about noon until Sunday afternoon. I've been for the last 4 years. This is the first year as a registered bidder. I just like walking around watching the rich guys with all the hot chicks half their age hanging on to them for their money. I hope I can be there someday.

I'll be tuning in on the Speed Channel. There are always some of the most awesome cars ever built being auctioned off!! If only I had been born rich instead of so darn good looking!! Oh well, I guess some of us can't have everything.

After the two August trips from Albuquerque to Arlington TX (see Grandpa and then to his funeral), the November trip to Roswell NM (wife's Grandpa's funeral), the November trip (Thanksgiving) to Arlington to see Granny, the Christmas trip to Corpus Christi then to Arlington (to see Granny), then the New Years trip to Arlington (for Granny's funeral), I'm not going this year. I can't afford another trip right now and my butt's still tired from all the driving shown above.

BUT we're planning to go to next year!!! Take the travel trailer and enjoy for two or three days.

Craig, look for me on TV. If I get on there, you'll know it's me.

Wayne, sorry about your recent loses. Maybe I'll see ya' out there next year.

a funny on the local news

apparently Micheal Jackson has a car up for auction and the local news are reporting that there may be a problem in signing over the title as he's not available due to unforseen difficu;ties. Barret rep's are reporting that the car will be auctioned as the owner has not removed it.

There are about 4 different car auctions going on down here at the same time.

I wish I could go. I was there about 5 years ago and really enjoyed it. Probably be a couple years before I can go and maybe bid on something. It's fun to watch just the same.

good year for the auction

heard on the radio this morning that sales totaled 38. 5 mil, with over 185k in attendance and over 3300 registered bidders.

Pretty wild weekend. Weather was crappy, but other than that. I watched some pretty interesting action on Saturday. Somebody bought a late 30's Lincoln Zepher with a V12 for 400 grand. One guy bought all three Callaway Vettes for around 800 grand. We had one car we were looking at buying, a 55 Nomad, black with a ploished 502 Ram Jet. The bidding hit our limit before we even made it to the stage. Car ended up selling for 130,000. Can't wait for next year. I think I'll be back out later this year for GoodGuys.

one deal no done yet

just heard (again) that a deal is still pending that could drive the $$ total over 40 million. Not a bad four days.

And that would make at least 6. 4 million for Barrett Jackson themselves. They get 8-10% of the cost of each vehicle from both the buyer and the seller. The guy that bought the Lincoln for 400 actually paid 432,000 and the seller got 368,000.
