Need the U-shaped, sheetmetal/stamped CROSSMEMBER that runs under the transfer case on a 4x4. Would possibly take skid plate if you have that too.
Located in GA but will pay shipping and make it worth your time if you can help. Thanks for any help with this guys.

Try using http://car-part.com

They are a wrecking yard "parts aggregator" that allows you to search MANY yards across the country for specific vehicle parts.
You can even base your search on distant from your zip code. Some yards will ship, other won't, though it never hurts to call and ask.

I have found the site very useful in the past.

Thanks seafish. I tried the local LKQ pick your part site and I had to submit an application for them to call me back. Other local junkyards dont even have any 4x4 Rams, so I will definitely try your link.
Any and all help is much appreciated here guys.

Well seafish, I found one place that had one listed but they were closed today. The only other I found was listed at $275 and brand new from MOPAR this piece is $225 and $150 at various online suppliers.
I'm thinking there are plenty out there at the junkyards (nationally, not locally) but the problem is most of the listings dont show it specifically. (These junkyards have a hard time properly listing this rather uncommon piece)
If anybody has one laying around, or on a parts truck, I'm definitely interested. If not, I'll either drop the $150 or half assed attempt to straighten mine, which was seriously bent from previous owner. I have the equiptment to straighten it, but its so stretched, I doubt I'll ever feel comfortable enough to use it with the transfer case mount I'm trying to add. Just dont think I'll get the height back to OEM specs. (Height between crossmember and transfer case)

Dont add that Transfercase Mount!
You'll break it, if mounted it takes all torque away from the motor mounts back to the TC Case and that is not made to take that beating!

I haven't done it, and have had this same concern myself. I posted about this on a couple forums but not much response.
Truck only has 80k miles but even after replacing NV5600 mount, I'm still getting squeeking and creaking out of it. I'm now wondering if motor mounts are possibly weakened? Truck was used on a farm in a previous life. Not sure what I'm going to do. Thanks for your comment Ozy!

Ozy is this the TC mount that you are taking about NOT adding??

It goes between the TC and OEM skid plater and helps support the TC weight from he transmission.

I always thought that it would be a GOOD idea and have determined that it also works with the G56 and NV272 .

Yes that's the one he's talking about. It works with the NV5600 as well. Genos highly recommends it. They told me that no transfer case support on these trucks was a "major oversight" by Dodge. Just spoke to them this week regarding the subject.
I've been undecided personally, but I do feel that when you look up under the truck, there just seems to be a total lack of support with the N271D plus two driveshafts hanging off the NV5600.
I will be adding a 1pc driveshaft in the rear soon, so no more midshaft bearing support. Of course, on the other hand, the 5" aluminum driveshaft is much lighter than the OEM 2 piece. So hopefully I'm at least not adding any weight/stress to the system.

Not doubting Ozy, but I'm trying to envision how the transfer case would take all the torque load away from the Cummins? I've not read of anyone having a problem with cracking any casings with these mounts, but I have read of guys having problems who were not using a mount. I read on one of the Cummins forums where a Dodge technician mentioned seeing on average about 10 cracked transfer/transmission casings a year. Take that with a grain of salt.

IMO opinion, with its flexible bushing and the fact that it is simply RESTING on the relatively thin stamped steel/ somewhat flexible skid plate, it could ONLY help the TC and not hurt, but what do I know, right ??

Well, do a Cam under your truck.
Get in, stomp on the brake AND the throttle the same time and see yourself what's going on down there. You'll be surprised how much movement is in the Powertrain.

And no, there are Millions of Rams out there on the road, beaten to death without the Tc coming down.

So - no I don't support that bracket myself, wanted it in the past, did my homework and decided not to go that way.

Be warned is all I say.

If someone really wants to help keep the load off the transmission then he would fab a bracket that goes inline with the the powertrain, taking the load to the OEM transmission Bushing without compromising the flex of the powertrain as it was designed by Dodge.
The mentioned bushing is just a band-aid.

Thanks Ozy...it does seem as if the mount MIGHT transfer some VIBRATION to the truck while driving. as one of the buyers from Genos said as much, though another di NOT have that problem. If you hit the review link on the Genos page I posted above, you can read some more feedback on the mount.

That being said, Ozy, I am wondering what OTHER research you might be referring to (if you don't mind sharing) ??

Transfer cases have been hanging off of transmission tail housings unsupported for decades by many manufacturers. The only time I've heard of a tail housing breaking is in the event of an accident. It seems completely unnecessary to me. Make sure your engine and trans mounts are in good shape then don't worry about it.

Sounds like all you really need is a replacement crossmember to fix your damaged one and drive on.

I do agree there is movement in the drivetrain. But how does one know if/when the motor mounts are weakened and need replacing?

If you still need the cross member, try contacting TDR Member "odieub". He has a lot of parts. He's in KY.

There's also another fellow, Mark Nixon, on another forum that trades in used parts and salvage trucks. He's in eastern Nebraska, right where Nebraska, Iowa, and Missouri meet. Call or text him at 402-780-5127.
