OK, the topic says it all. That is the TSB to restore full engine power to the auto trucks in 4th gear. I want it done, but I don't want any other side effects like some of the computer flashes have. Thanks guys.

I'm considering this reflash as well, but I am also leary of having it mess things up. If it has no negative side effects, it sounds worth doing IMHO.

Need more positive feedback...

I too want this done but would like more folks who have had it done to commit. I REALLY do not want them to screw up the truck.

We have a few cutomers, who have had it done, and reported no problems. One noted better fuel economy, the others said it was worse.

Got to thinking bout it -

I went out and looked at the sticker they put on there (required when flashed). It gave the current "ECM" part number, and didn't state 18-24-00 so i looked up the invoice, and did confirm that it was indeed the 18-24-00 reflash, they only right the ECM flash under the hood. The other numbers I found on the sticker matched the TSB 18-24-00 and it was done 5-10-01.

There are people with good experiences, and people with bad experiences on reflashes, so its hard to really say, I can only speak from my personal experience on my truck, fuel milage is the same and power seems to be the same... . but I had the PE on before the flash soooo who knows?

Off the TSB : The Engine Control Module (ECM) software, on a 2001 Ram Truck equipped with a 5. 9L-24V diesel engine, is designed to "torque manage" the power output of the engine. This is done to protect the automatic transmission components. The revised software calibration restores the power output and improves the vehicle performance in overdrive.
