My 2007, 5. 9 truck did a funny thing yesterday. I came hope from an appointment, parked the truck and pushed the lock button on the key fob and nothing happened. I came into the house and got the other key and it worked the locks. I checked the battery and it was good. I cleaned contacts in the fob but no good. I searched the forums about diagnosing the in-op fob. I decided to try reprogramming it. I followed the procedure in the factory shop manual and it works now. What would have caused this to happen?? I have been using the same key/fob since new.

Any resolution? I have the separate fob on my 2004. 5 & thought it was a battery, but it wasn't as I tried the alternate fob & it worked the same; either not at all or after about 5-10 tries. I'm guessing, but it appears that the problem may be in the receiver or whatever it is in the truck. Trying to avoid the dealer on this one, but i may have to bend over & grab the soap! Intermittent function with 2 separate fobs would eliminate most of the issues mentioned above.

My BAD..... I should have reported back. I just did the standard key programming like the shop manual says and I think if you search the threads, it is posted here too. I reprogrammed it and it worked! Don't what the hell made it loose the programming and I haven't had any trouble since.

Could be as Sag suggested. You may have cracked cold solder joints that will keep acting up.
Seems like Dodge is becoming the poster child for poor flow-solder.
