Seems every time I go to order something, the code they sent me to use and share with everyone has "just expired"...

I would appreciate any discount code more current (and valid) than mine!

Thanks! Scott

The code did indeed get me 5% off.

But I didn't order all I wanted due to an ongoing problem RockAuto has with their shipping calculator.

I ordered the following t-style steering components for my '96 upgrade (I have purchased all the parts gradually to spread the cost out. You all know how I just love spending $$ on the dodge front steering... ) :

Anyway, the smallest, lightest-weight, cheapest part is the small adjuster sleeve Moog ES2012S.

Shipping for the other parts I ordered today was very reasonable: @ $10

Adding that smallest of parts to the order jumped the shipping by $11, or more than double! But wait, it gets even weirder:

Removing it from that order and placing an entirely separate order for it (another box to ship) is $2 CHEAPER than ordering it with the other parts.

Bear in mind the other parts are rather heavy (two tierod ends and the large adjusting sleeve), yet still ship cheaper than this tiniest part!

I brought this to RockAuto's attention months ago when I first started pricing and buying the parts for my steering. They assured me they would "look into it". The obvious problem is that some knucklehead has entered FAR too great a weight into their computer for that small sleeve. They have it weighing and costing MORE to ship than the huge tierod!!

Any way i try it, that one stupid $22 sleeve ends up being $31 to $33 with shipping. It is cheaper locally at any Moog dealer, so I will not buy it from RockAuto.

OK, I admit it is more annoyance than problem, but the fact that RockAuto customer service said they would investigate that problem, after agreeing it made no sense, then they failed to do so, bothers me.

So take advantage of the good prices and fast shipping from RockAuto, but always watch that shipping calculator as you add parts to your basket. A couple of items like that could quickly negate any savings from buying from them.

At least Rockauto has upgraded their site to show that you are paying shipping from multiple locations. I often put together an order and then discover I'm paying shipping from 3 different locations and the great prices end up being more than shopping local.

This isn't one of those "different locations" problems. I could understand that. They simply have way too much shipping cost programmed in for that 4 1/2 inch long by 1 inch diameter sleeve.

Don't get me wrong, I am still a fan and customer of RockAuto, but I sure wish they would follow through on a discrepancy when it is brought to their attention and they said they would.

I am immensely pleased to report that Tom Taylor, a fellow TDR member and RockAuto employee apparently, read this thread and investigated the problem with the shipping on that sleeve. It was indeed erroneously listed in the computer at several times it's actual weight and he has already corrected the problem and even sent me an email to let me know.

WOW! You gotta love that effort!!

Just one more reason why RockAuto is such a favorite around here. I had no idea we were blessed with an "inside man" there.

THANK YOU, TOM!!! :D

While it still works, it is about ready to expire. Not sure if there is a single person who has been getting this discount added, or the admin?

Just rolling this to the top as a reminder... I just placed a big order and was very thankful for the discount! Thanks to whoever got it in place.

Another discount code

My guess would be Tom Taylor as the TDR member/ Rockauto man to thank, Steved. The discount does help. I have bought many Dodge and Camaro parts from them and will be buying more soon. Here is a code that is good until November 1:

21730471816093

Using Your Discount Code
Enter the code above in the "How did you hear about us" line of the shopping cart. If you are using our traditional HTML catalog, please click the "Apply" button to the right of the field. Your discount will automatically appear, subtracted from your order total.

Please note: We sometimes get calls from people who put the word "discount" in front of their code and do not get the discount. Please enter ONLY the discount code, no other words or numbers.

The discount takes 5% off our already-low prices. There's no limit on order size or the number of orders. Use the code for your next order, and share the code with friends, neighbors, relatives, the guy at the corner garage--anyone you know who works on cars or trucks.

This discount code expires on November 1, 2009; so don't wait!
