Hey all i went to my local tire/wheel price and had my salesman call up a couple different people to see what would fit properly on my truck. He came up with the ION ALLOY series 138. the 17 x 8 one is what he told me. Anyone know if the quality on these wheels are any good? There very cheap so im kind of worried. Im thinking of going with the 18 x 8. 5 they have. . (not listed on jegs)

Don't really know much about them, just seen them in the new Jeggs catalog and looked up there site. There is a 3500 dually in town that is running the 175 series wheels. They look good on his truck, but to me they are a 2WD only wheel. I think they are more of a sport wheel and don't have the rugged look needed for the 4WD. Others may disagree. That is the only ION wheels I have seen in person.

I believe we test fitted one ION wheel on my wife's truck and it looked like a skateboard, it stuck out so far from the body. It looked a little too ghetto for me.

Hopefully those you are looking at aren't so stupid looking once on the truck. They look awesome though.

Yes it is for sale. But what does it matter... In a few years when i buy a 3rd gen back these will go on... And these wheels work on almost any other truck anyways. . Doesnt fit on a ford. . oh well i will never own another POS ford :-laf.

Watch the offset!

Nick, the offset on these is totally wrong at -5mm they will stick out a mile!!!!

You need +20mm offset minimum, 30 is better, +40mm is factory.

Heh. . . tell him you're looking for something to match your OEM 6" backspace and +40mm offset and see what sort of response you get

I am looking around for wheels also. Correct me if I am wrong,

but there are very few options with the backspacing we need

in 17 inch wheels. anyone know of any? thanks

We discussed it at length in this thread. There are some wheel options also.

Edit:

Just re-read your post and saw that you're looking for 17" wheels. You're right, there aren't any 17" wheels I know of that have the preferred offset, but TDR member Duck runs the 17" alcoa's with 315's and a 2" leveling kit. I posted about it inthis thread

This thread dealt mostly with 18" wheels and up. There are more options.

Wheel thread.
