So I see! That's gotta be cool. If you get bored and want to go for a ride sometime, let me know, I'm around on weekends. By the way, I like to turn up these trucks! ;)

A bad steering box will kill a new pump pretty quickly. Box is putting fillings in the system.

Since you are having trouble again replace the pump, lines, and the box all at the same time.

Those who have done x-over steering will it clear on a stock height truck or does it have to be lifted?

I also second PSC, they do good work. I have a full hydro steering setup from them waiting to go on my rock crawler, quite a bit more expensive than a steering box lol.

I have pictures in my readers rigs of a crossover on my 75 dodge with a 4" lift. I could not make it work, even with a huge hole in the crossmember. That, and when the driverside front tire was compressed, the spring would hit the pitman arm, even with dropped bump stops and 2. 5" drop pitman arm. A 4" drop arm would hit the springs on little bumps going down the road.

I have that same setup on my 90, and it has a 6" spring lift. To make it clear I have a 4" dropped pitman arm, and then I had to bend the drag link down a few inches so that it would not hit the crossmember. I did it sort of like this draglink..... http://www.offroaddesign.com/Dana60crossover.htm......and its working fine.

I would love to put crossover on my 93, but it would hit the crossmember... ... and steering is not very good when the draglink is bound up on the frame. Sorry guys.

For anybody that does put crossover on you truck, BOX THE FRAME, because it WILL crack. My 75 did with only 33" tires on it.

I've seen this truck around before. Wish i could say where, but i definatly recognize it. I feel like ive seen it for sale on ebay once apon a time. its is a very disticntive truck, hard to forgit it. i love the way it looks with the paint, bed, wheels/tires, and the whole package is beautiful. nice truck.

Hydro assist steering

Thanks for the steering hints here, when it is warm outside I have power steering, when it is cold I don't. I replaced the pump with good used pump and no change.

PSC www.pscpowersteer.com was here for the Easter Jeep Safari and says that happens on old gears when a groove wears in the cylinder????

Anyway I looked at their setup and one by www.westtexasoffroad.com (called the "redneck ram") where they port the steering gear and add a hydraulic cylinder to boost the steering. Since a bunch of the steering force is now borne on the axle housing, there is a lot less stress on the frame where it normally cracks. I am hoping this is true. I will report on it after I get it installed. I eventually decided to go with the PSC setup. Slightly higher $$ but not bad.

I will report on the hydroassist when I have it installed. I was looking at doing crossover at the same time but I think I may not.

Thanks for your comments Michael

Hey TI! I drove past your shop today, no truck! I would have stopped if I had seen it. I didn't know if you were there or not.
