A Drug Problem

I'm in the process of completely finishing our cellar, including putting in heat, so I can put up my layout. I am modeling the steel mill set in HO that Walthers put out a couple of years ago. My wife likes the idea because we will have a finished basement and she will know where I am. When I'm finished it will be about a 12' x 16'. Wish I had a bigger cellar.

The house that my parents bought had a full layout in the basement that the previous owners son had. There was only part of it left when I saw it before they came to get the rest of it. They did a great job on it. Wished it came with the house. :{

I also belong to a local model rr club. The nice thing about the trains is that you can get lost with them and relax. Get involved and just let the trains run nice and easy.

When I was kid my brother and I had an HO layout that our dad built for us. Every Christmas Santa would bring us each another car and more track, or switches and controls. Dad would tear the old layout up and, surprisingly enough, Santa always brought everything dad needed for the next layout.

We only had a couple buildings, and no scenery, just a four by eight table. The last layout was a figure eight in an oval, they shared one curve and the oval had a switching yard.

It was lots of fun, getting both trains running simultaneously and throwing the switches to keep them running at the same time.

I loved running the trains, it's building the layout that is the hard part. I don't think I have the devotion or patience.

Has anyone tried Microsoft's Train Simulator? I played it regularly for a while, then lost interest. It was fun seeing the controls, and learning the controls of a steam locomotive.

I think Camara has something, it's nice to just watch the model trains go around. I didn't get that with the train sim.

Probably overlooked it, but haven't seen it yet. Will have to look for it.

The setup that was in my parents house had scenery, buildings, tunnels, bridges, the whole works. Wrpped around the small room on 3 walls with 4x8 sheets of plywood. They painted the walls to look like the sky. They built some of the rail cars too. Wish I had seen the whole thing up. Really cool. :(
