I was just curious if anyone has painted youre valve cover on youre engine, and exactly how did you do it,did you sand it down good I reckon, what kind of paint did you use, what color did you paint it????

not necessary to sand it , just clean it to remove grease with prime wash cleanner. aplly adhesion promoter and paint it. I ve paint mine with base coat-clearcoat metalic grey graphit truck color with red 24v turbo diesel... look great :)

I painted mine with Krylon fusion plastic paint, red, I scuffed it with a scotch brite pad and then wiped it down with acetone. Be sure to mask off your engine data tag.

Well i started with a 20 LBS base coat of aluminum. Then i primed with a 3/4 roughing end mill. And finished with a nice 1/2 in finish coat. And a lot of hand hand buffing... :-laf

That's just mean... not everyone can have their own machine shop.

I take it by the $280 comment that you are producing them for sale? I'll add it to the list of things that I'll just never be able to have. I think that a lift, tires and..... MORE POWER!!!!! will have to come first.

Damn that valve cover is awesome!

Rule of thumb when painting is cleanliness. Make sure you clean it real good with wax & grease remover to remove all grease & grime ..... that is the most important step. Make sure you wipe it down & don't touch the part with your hand afterwards. Then it has to be sprayed with adhesion promoter which is good for plastic parts... . it can be bought in spray cans at your local auto store. Then spray on your base coat in even coats, [just buy the spray cans of auto color touch up paint] but be sure not to coat it too heavy or it will run... . just light coats until you have full coverage. Allow 10 minutes dry time between coats for best result. Then spray on your clear coat in the same way. Follow these steps & you will have a nice product. The chrome cover is awesome!

For the chrome just find a reputable chromer in your area and he can lead you in the right direction and for the Hi Ram it is ceramic coated same as the AFE intake assembly that you can barely see in the pic.

OK are we talking about valve covers or silly plastic breather covers??? :p

Here is my painted VALVE COVER ;)

Sorry i did not mean to be mean. . Trust me having a shop is no fun some times there is alot of things i would like to build but just no time to do it. I did talk to geno's garadge and they are interested in selling them. I started yesterday on a run of 10 so i will be sending them off a sample. I wish the price tag was less but the material is killing me. The good thing is that if geno's likes it they will be around for the guys that want to add them later
