Anybody have DSM's # and a contact person

I'd give you the name of the one I used, but he really didn't do much. Ask for the new truck sales manager and ask tell him you want to work with a sales agent that is knowlegable about the CTD. I really think, if you have CTD experience, or have followed this forum, you will know as much if not more then most salesmen.

You will get the same price from all of them... ;)

Bret Jones... bretJ@usautosales.com... 800-635-8000.

Great customer service, great to do business with! I showed up 4 hours before my truck was supposed to be ready to pick up... left in an hour and a half! :)

I have called DSM probably a dozen times over the past 5 years to get price quotes. Every single time, they were ready to beat the best deal local to me (Boise). They were also friendly and returned my calls each time.

A couple of comments for some of the folks who have had negative experiences. First off, as somebody else said, they don't "deal". The price they give you is the best price they can offer, PERIOD. I know there are a lot of folks out there who like to dicker because they fancy themselves as world-beaters, but that's not how DSM works. So, if you looking for a dealer that you can tell all your buddies that you "really screwed them over with my negotiating", DSM isn't your kind of dealer.

Secondly, DSM USED to actually be willing to fax you a copy of the invoice. I THINK (I might be wrong) that they quit doing this because so many people were using it to go to the local dealer instead. I know some folks who were turned off by the fact that DSM wouldn't give them a faxed invoice any more. To them I say "boo-hoo". It isn't DSM's responsibility to ensure that your local dealer gets your business.

As I said, I have contacted these folks many, many times and they have always been professional and courteous. I haven't purchased from them but a lot of my friends have and they all had great experiences.

If you are close to the Pacific NW, I would highly recommend them. If you are closer to St. Louis, I have heard nothing but good things about Tommy as well.

"The price they give you is the best price... " Well, not always guys, that's pushing it well past the point of realism.

When I ordered my 2005 and committed to buy I did not know about the ads they put out. When I went back I showed the saleman a current ad for an identical unit with automatic (mine is 6 speed) for $1000 less than mine. He sputtered and fumed etc. Said the unit had been on the lot a long time ( about 2 months longer than mine. . same year). he checked and the unit was still there and for sale at the advertised price. He sputtered more, said we had put on the options on the unit I ordered etc etc.

I said I had given my word to himto buy at the quoted price and would keep my word and did so. But it is perhaps naive to just assume they give away margin. I was suckered, not intentionally I suspect, just sloppyness on the saleman's part. They are rushed, hustling and make mistakes, though I suspect the mistakes tend more to go one way than another.

Its a business. And Dave Smith et al is as tough about it as anyone anywhere.

Also,I rather suspect that it is in their interest to see that these TDR postings represent them well. Anyone would defend their business so.

They told me they have 74 salesmen. Very doubful that they can maintain quality control. Retail is detail and I saw no evidence that their senior managment is that close to the floor. As usual, with Smith as with any major purchase, in my opinion its buyer beware. they will try to do well and be fair but in the end its up to us to represent ourselves.

They always post a few specials on their website. They might even have one on the lot that they want to get rid of and might cut you a deal on that. But... If your calling around for the best quote on the rig you want with the features you want you will be hard pressed to find a better deal.

The one you found wasn't one you wanted... That's why you went through with the deal you made over the phone. Also... Those of us that "defend" Dave Smith have no dog in the hunt except that we bought a truck from them, they beat any deal I could get locally, and they treated me just fine... ;)

I was in the dealership.

Spent two hours with the salesman going over the specs. Asked for a used vehicle, he sold me up to a new one at a price. He told me it was a special rig that only he knew about. The ad was a printed ad circulated broadly. No way a solid review of their offerings would have missed a published offering. It just happened that I was a new boy from out of town.

I JUST RECIEVED A QUOTE FROM A SALES REP NAMED "BEAR" AND IT WAS GREAT. JUST OVER 32K FOR AN '06 MEGA CAB 3/4 T CUMMINS. I BOUGHT MY PRESENT TRUCK FROM THEM AND THEY'VE BEEN TRUE TO THEIR WORD. BLEW OUR LOCAL DEALER AWAY BY $7k DOLLARS. I FLEW TO SPOKANE, WA THEY PICKED ME UP AT THE AIRPORT TOOK ME TO KELLOGG WHERE MY TRUCK WAS EXACTLY WHAT I ORDERED AND WAS DETAILED AND FULL OF FUEL. IT WAS LICENSED IN MY HOME STATE AND ALL I HAD TO DO WAS GIVE THEM THE PAYMENT AND TAKE OFF. I'LL BE ONE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS FOREVER. THEY'RE A NO B. S. COMPANY. GIVE THEM THE INFO ON WHAT YOU WANT THEY'LL FAX BACK A QUOTE (WITH NO ADD ON'S) GIVE THEM A CREDIT CARD FOR THE $500 DEPOSIT AND THAT'S IT. LOVE DEALING WITH THEM. MAYBE THERE ARE MORE COMPANIES LIKE DAVE SMITH BUT THAT'S THE WAY TO DO BUSINESS AND KEEP YOUR CUSTOMERS HAPPY. CENTRAL OREGON.

After taking a look at this post, and your original post, I've decided that I have no clue what your point is and I'm having some problems following your train of thought. Have a nice day... ;)

Well I got my 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 TD from Maxwell Dodge 13401 North Fm 620 in Austin, Texas. The experience I had was terrific. Aside from that, three months later I moved from Austin, back to California. When I called DMV to find out what the parameters would be with registering this vehicle in California, I was told, the vehicle need to have 7000 miles on the odometer at the time the vehicle enters the state. I only had 4. 5K or so on the truck when I arrived in California with my truck, so I waited a few months before going to DMV. It was legal in one sense, as the "Texas" Reg & Tags were valid for a year anyway. If I got cought , my plan was to tell a cop I was just visiting with my 5er anyway. I eventually went to DMV a few moths later. It cost me $415. 00 for my Plates and Tags, A guy came out and inspected it, looked under the hood etc. . and that was it. Painless in my opinion.
