I didn't think it was possible to run 315/75/16's on stock 2001 4X4 aluminum rims but the local 4wheel parts store said I could. Is anyone running this setup? If yes, don't the tires "cup" in the middle of the tread?

Thanks :

don't know about the bfg's but I'm running 315/75/16 load range E, nitto terragrapplers, and no cupping, rotate every 6000, and am running 65 psi

315/75/16 Mastercraft Courser C/T's mounted on '01 Alloys on a 97 2500! :D

You WILL rub the control arms with 315's, and you will need a minimum 2" leveling spacer to clear them. I prefer Skyjacker D25 (2. 5" coils) from Summit Racing though. ;)

I ran 315 BFG AT's on the factory 01 4X4 wheels. I got 60,000 miles on them and only rotated them once. That should explain whether I experienced any cupping. ;)

Devil Black, I have two pair of BFG 315/75/16's. I have one pair one the factory rims that came on my 02, and I have one pair on rims of a 97. I have no problems with cupping or rubbing. If I hit a large curb or turn sharp they rub on the trailing arms. I love these tires and would get another pair. Check out my readers rig photos. Michigan Black

I'm running 315's on mine,,,,, i did the 2 in daystar coil cones,,,,, the only problem i have is that with the stock bacspacing the tire rump on the lower arms if you turn to the lock,,,,

by the way,,,,, mark, you got to ole 97 looking pretty good

Thanks Trey. Still needs stacks though! :{ :( Hunting a pair of 6" Miters for a good cost! :-laf Getting a Dual Disk at the begining of the year... can you guess where I'm heading! Oo.

By the way nice picture in Mopar Magazine last month! :p :-laf ;)

Thanks for all your help!

Now, here's the stumper... ... does anyone know if I can run factory '03 rims with 315/70/17's on my '01?

The 315/70/17's are a tiny bit smaller than the 315/75/16's. Is there any reason why they wouldn't fit  ?

Thanks

From everything I've seen on here you still need to bite the bullet and get at least a 2" coil spacer at the least. They wil fit, but they will rub.

315 Americas Tire Pathfinder ATR's on stock '00 alum wheels - STOCK SUSPENSION. I do get rubbing on the control but I haven't had any fender contact - I don't really use the truck off-road though. I got +60K miles out of the first set of tires and the wore out in the middle due to the 8inch wheel. I'm on my second set of ATRs now. I run 35psi in front and 25psi in the rears unless I'm towing.

I've run 315/75/16 BF Goodrich A/T 's on stock rims with the stock suspension for the past year.

There is a little bit of rub when turning in a parking spot but other than that it's all good.

I do plan on going back to 295's or some 305's because the taller 315's put my rpms just a little to low when towing at lower speeds. Plus the truck feels a little slower with them.

I've got an auto with 3:5's

You may want to check out the new Toyo Open Country M/T as well. I've been a BFG fan for years, but got a chance to demo some of the Open Country M/T's earlier this summer. I have to say that I was impressed with the control and quieter ride. I've been running the BFG MT for the last 8 years, and up until recently, I had planned to stick with the BFG's, but the Open Country M/T is now available in a 315/75/16 that is E rated. Pricing seems to be similar, but now you can get an E rated tire that rumors to wear much better than the BFG MT. For what it's worth, I usually get around 40,000-45,000 on the BFG MT.

My new Toyos should be here in a week or two. I can let you know more then.

So far so good. I haven't had them for very long, but they are definitely quiter and smoother on the road. Toyo also uses a much thicker rubber on the sidewall. I checked them before they went on and this tire has a thicker sidewall than both the BFG MT and the Goodyear MT/R. The Toyo also has a much heavier load rating. My truck is pretty heavy. The last time I weighed, I was 8200 pounds, and that was before I added custom bumpers, winch, extra fuel and water. I suspect that I am easily over 9000 pounds and we do a fair amount of off road travel.

Don't get me wrong, the BFG MT is a great tire. I ran them on both of my Dodges and only had one flat in over 120,000 miles (that was a horseshoe spike). That includes about 10 trips down to Baja and lots of dirt roads through Northern CA.

Having had both on my truck, the Toyo just seems beefier, but you can't go wrong with either way.

Just wondering if theres a noticeable difference in cruzing rpms with the 315s . Im running 285s with 4;10s auto and i have been thinking of going up a size next if it will lower my RPMs :D

i am currently running 315s on my stockers (see profile pic) they do rub a lil bit on the trailing arms at full lock, but nothing to worry about. i used a daystar leveling kit, and a 1" block in the rear to give it that stock slightly raked look. i havent noticed any odd wear with them but i will be switching to eagle 16X10s tomorrow. it can be done and it looks good also :D
