I just ordered the kit last night. I was thinkning of using the band style clamps so I can get it apart easier in the future. Can anybody tell me how many clamps I will need to buy? Thanks

which style of clamps though? the flat ones for making a butt joint? [both pipe ends same 4" or 5" OD], or the offset ones for making an overlap joint? [one pipe end 4" or 5" OD, while the other end is 4" or 5" ID]

Did you order online or over the phone?

I tried calling Monday and got a female sounding voice on what would sound similar to just a regular house answering machine? Called twice!

P. S. sent and email inquiry and still no reply!!

Those clamps are crummy. I had them on my truck while I was waiting for a 5" resonator. They kept slipping and the pipe even fell apart once. Use them to fit the pipes and then have it welded up. It quiets it down too. For those who are wondering, There was a very bad drone at 1800 rpm's and the resonator killed it. I run the resonator in back of the muffler.

I ordered mine over the internet. I called the next day to ask about the muffler and talked with someone, but didn't get his name. Here is another system. They seem to be cheaper. I paid $399 for mine, $340 + 59 to ship. This place has them for $350 and 25 to ship.

On-line.

I used the mounting/hanger clamps to keep the pipes from turning. Put the muffler eliminator pipe right after the pipe with the 4" end on it. That way the joint didn't hit where the one hanger would be.

That way I could still use the band clamps with out smashing any of the ends with the hanger.

what luck!!!

I'm so glad i stumbled on this. I just happen to be in OKC right now. That's where the other exhaust comes from. I'll be heading over ther monday.

luv this site. :D :D :D

5"' EXHAUST

I've had my 5" on for about a month... (no muffler). . It definitely sound funny/weird LOTS of looks,,,not REAL HAPPY at LOW RPM's . . (like in town) but out on the highway,,,,,,YAHOOOOOO Oo. :D

I just LOVE rolling past (at the SWEET SPOT,,2150 R. P. M. ;s) the OTHER diesels AND the duel exhaust gas jobs (kids mostly) and looking at there faces..... :--)

WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE BAND CLAMPS ARE JUNK!!!!. .

Not if you have GOOD ONE's . . and "TIGHTEN THEM GOOD". . You can't break them!!... .....

Stop and THINK IT OVER,,,the BIG RIGS ,,have used millions,,, for years... ... ... ... .

Does it have an anoyying sound at low RPM'S, like an Echooo kinda sound. I've herd that sound on some 18 wheelers that have to big of pipes , it sound kinda funky :D :D

TURBINE WINE

NOPE...

The SOUND is like a TURBINE/JET,,,(helicopter) spooling down...

sound.

It is kinda neat tho,,,, just after you shut down and walk around to the back and can still hear the TURBO spooling down 20-30 seconds later.

:D :-laf

I know when I get on it real hard with a load or heavy trailer and then let off real fast,(especially when next to a Power S@!T or a convertable) it sounds like an Owl with big lungs :D :D, even with the 3" exhaust.

www.iowa80.com They also have 5" resenator. Doesn't look like it is on their site but I saw it in their store last week(sorry didn't write down P/N). It is 8-9" in diameter, 16" long, 5" inlet/outlet. Approx. $45-50.

Got a resonator from Iowa 80 several weeks ago, finally got it on tonight. Still sounds great. It just takes the edge off. Also got rid of the awful resonace at the 2100-2250rpm range.
