I'm still waiting for a reply from Frantz on their "fuel filter" - and construction differences between the standard oil filter and the fuel filter is what I am very much interested in - as well as the spec on flow rates. The Motor Guard sounds interesting as well, and we get down to Manteca pretty regularly, so it would easy to check on their product
Actually, after some thought, I am personally leaning towards doing as I suggested above, and use an added filter such as the Frantz or Motor Guard in a bypass configuration, probably replacing the pusher pump bypass shown above, and then returning the filtered fuel back to the tank instead of right back to the pusher inlet. The way our pusher and stock lift pumps work, fuel is actully circulated thru the electric motor that powers the pump, resulting in motor wear particles and carbon particles from the brushes being introduced into the fuel stream. A one-pass filter will hopefully catch those as they flake off - but a bypass would be constantly RE-cleaning the fuel, and provide better protection.
