anyone using a Holly lift pump to replace OEM pump?

Need a lift pump but this will be the second one in 102K. Is there any of you that is using a Holly pump that can advise on this? Does it work well or should one use a Cummins or Dc pump?

I know people have bolted them up, I hear that Mallory has a nice item as well. We'll have to get the part# from someone here, because no one at any speed shop wants to find out what model holds up under diesel fuel.

They look at you when you want to put race stuff on diesels. I'll never forget the look I got when I was looking for a boost gage. I told the guy I needed one that went to 50, his eyes about fell out as his jaw hit the floor.

Do yourself a favor and dont buy the junk holley... Its the last name in fuel pumps... You can do a search on lift pumps ... . JB

carter sells a replacement pump , its about 80 bucks plus shipping ,from summit , but you need it now i assume , summit has pretty quick shipping though. the part number is crt-4601hp , its a 14psi pump , it will bolt in place of the stock pump , but you will have to cut the stock connector off , and its got 3/8 npt connections , so you will need to improvise your fuel line connetion. its priced at 79. 95 . holley has a gearerator pump , but its 300 , i can't find a mallory unit .

About a month ago I called HVAC and talked to him about fuel pumps. The Mallory he is running is the 4100 series gerator, rated at 140gph free flow and 12psi. He felt this was a better pump and that his Holley 815 was already showing wear, FWIW.

When my lift pump dies I will probably go with the Mallory unit. It is under $190 on the website BigCarl posted. I would not get another Carter to replace the stocker unless you want to stick with the status-quo. I don't think it is any better than the OEM unit, it looks cheap compared to quality lift pumps.

Kent,I've been running the Holley "Blue" pump for about 4 months now. I've had no problems with this one, or the one I ran in my race car. I've talked to others that have run these for 2 years or more with no problems. As far as diesel fuel,in my paper work I received with my pump,it makes no mention or exception regarding being used with diesel fuel. Do some research and talk to others,decide for yourself. Dave
