I am interested to hear also. I use a mix of Standyne and MMO in every tank and neither of them tested too terribly well so may be looking to change.

I have been using the Opti Lube for a few days now, I am seeing 3MPG Increase in Fleul Mileage. Engine is about the same noise level wise... .

Roperteacher,

3mpg increase is pretty good, just from switching to a different additive.

What's the going price for the additive (in your neck of the woods)?

Thanks.

Roperteacher,

Thanks for the reply. I'll wait for a few more reports as far MPG claims etc.

Sounds promising though.

I just hate ordering everything through the internet, cuz the stuff always arrives when I'm not home and the wife always asks questions. :)

:-laf Yeah me too. You should see when the cabelas boxes show up at my house. That is always a fun time at the ol' dinner table those nights, LMAO

Looks like it will have to be disquised as a christmas present. Luckily that isn't too far away. I told my wife I was ordering alot of xmas gifts via internet, so I have a month and a half window of opportunity to get some more CTD goodies. :)

I'll probably hold off on the XPD stuff until next year. Should have more observations/discussions then. Plus with the winter blends coming up, I'd hate to have gelled fuel because of an experiment. :)

This thread is almost an year old. I am wondering if anyone has any more experiences to share about this product. I have seen some Powerstroke websites and another cummins website where people are claiming ridiculous increase in mpg. Is this true?

I tried it last winter and saw absolutely no difference. I have hand calculated every tank of fuel for the last 20+ years. I've tried many and always go back to 2-cycle mixed with Diesel Clean. Don't see any mileage increase there either but hope the lube does some good for little additional cost.

No change

I've used Stanadyne from day one when the fuel changed. Purchased 3 gal of XPD and have maybe 10 tanks with no change in mileage or power increase. Seems motor noise is greater than Stanadyne. Pretty spendy also. When its gone its gone.

I've used XPD for about a year now for the lubricity properties. I did not have any issues before and still don't have any issues now.

It makes me feel good, doing something.

The "need" for additives since the change to ULSD is to
insure lubricity - and should "trump" any thoughts of mpg gains.

However, if you have an '07 or newer (DPF equipped engine),
additives may be detrimental to the DPF.
Check carefully before using.

Has anyone used Bio-Diesel for lube when filling up? It appears that Bio-D shows the greatest gains (415 micron improvement on the wear scar test that were preformed on Diesel Place) study results. So has anyone used Bio-D for lube? I don’t know why not unless it’s just that hard to find. It seems a better option than 2 stroke which I am currently using. I bought 5 gals of B99 and I am going to try it at 50:1 mix next time I fill up. I don’t think that 3 quarts to a tank will cause bad effects even in winter. I know it has a detergent effect on the tank and lines, may cost me a new fuel lifter but at 50:1 maybe not. Anyone using it??

WWOMACK,

There are quite a few people using the B-99 for all their fuel needs. No diesel!!!! B-99 is a fuel.

To get the desired results (proper fuel lubricity), all you need is 2% B-99 added to your diesel. That will give your fuel system all the protection it needs.

The "lack of lubricity" seems to not be much of a problem, anymore. As of a few years ago, the refiners seem to be adding enough lubricity to the ULSD.

The nice thing about the B-99 is that it is an actual FUEL that, also, acts like a lubricity additive. So, if you put a gollon of B-99 in your tank, it's like putting a gallon of FUEL in your tank. The by-product is the added lubricity. Makes the use of B-99 as an additive pretty cheap!!!

I keep a five gallon jug of B-99 & add a bit to the tank when I get a load of ULSD. I can still get LSD, here in the Phoenix area. Plenty of natural lubricity in LSD. It only seems to be available at truck stops (Flying J, Quick-Trip).

I'd absolutely LOVE to be able to get about a 50 gallon drum of B99 to store, and then add to the plain ULSD sold in this area - and stop using the 2-stroke oil and Diesel Kleen mix I'm now stuck with - I'm sold on the added lubricity it provides - but would prefer simply adding the bio stuff instead...

No known source of Biofuel anywhere close to eastern Oregon - but will be down in the Sacramento area of California in a week or so - any retail sources of B99 in that area?

Hey hey HEY! :)

Did an internet search, and found a source of B99. 9 in Reno - right where we will be passing thru mext week - will take along a 55 gallon drum, and if all goes well, kiss the 2-stroke oil and Diesel Kleen goodbye! Oo. Oo.

I think it a good idea it’s supposed to be burnt in a diesel engine and I found a place in Tucson that sells it. Plus it's definitely cheaper that the other additives that I have been using that don’t do anything but thin the fuel.
