Mike asks:

"Does anyone have any insight on the possibility of lint fibers getting into the engine? Anyone using the GCF setups? "

It would SEEM reasonable to suspect there WOULD be some initial lint released from ANY TP or paper towel type roll that is present from the manufacturing and cutting proccesses - or even the string type. BUT, don't forget the exiting flow from the bypass filter is merely returned to the oil pan - not into the engine, and must be routed right back to the full flow filter and bypass again BEFORE there's any possibility for entrance into the engine's internals. Compared to all the OTHER nasty stuff floating around inside an engine, *I* wouldn't worry too much about a VERY small amount of soft lint that MIGHT be present the first few minutes of operation on a new filter before it's removed from the oil by subsequent passes thru the filters!

To back my theory up, my last oil analysis revealed about HALF the "normal" percentage of insolubles and 1/3 the percentage of silicone - so it would seem reasonable to assume there's not much getting past the primary or bypass filter and into the engine itself.

My heart felt thanx to all those that have participated in this forum. I have'nt sold this many filters since I bought the pile 3 years ago. Y'all keep batting this issue around... it's good for biz. I still have plenty more... ... ... ... ... .

One more thing... pls. call me toll free @1 888 279 9168. I talk a whole lot faster than I type... ... ... ... :D :D :D

Cool--thanks Gary! That's exactly what I was looking for.

I think I've pretty much settled on a Gulf Coast filter setup with a single paper towel roll element. Now I just have to justify it to the lady with the checkbook...

Depending on which of their setups you get, you can use either TP or paper towel rolls. The one they suggest for the Cummins 5. 9L uses a single paper towel roll.

According to www.bypassfilter.com it's $438. 05 with lines and fittings, or $520. 66 with heavy duty lines and fittings.
