I tried posting in the 1st gen posting but didn't get any response. Noticed most of the trans upgrades seem to be happening in the 2nd gen so thought I'd ask the question here.
As you can see from my signature, I own a 1st gen. But I've upgraded to a larger 5er and want to solidify my drivetrain. The stock transmission (non-locking, of course) works well but the trans temps tend to climb on hill climbs. I'd like to reduce the temps and get more power to the ground. A local shop installs BD transmissions but I want to know if that's the way I should go. The price is about $1K more than a local heavy duty rebuild. I'd be willing to pay the extra dough if it's worth it.
I also see a lot of DTT mentioned here. So that might be an option also.
Just let me know your opinions. I value them greatly!
