I live down here in Louisiana, and it never fails... when the temperature warms up and it gets muggy my APPS connector gets moisture in, causing the transmission to hunt gears in third and fourth gear. Once the engine warms up the moisture evaporates and it is ok (but not all the time)... ... Sometimes i have to take off the connector and spray some electrical contact cleaner in there..... Any ideas what i can do to keep the humidity out?

Jason,

Yes, put it on all the connections + anywhere you are worried about corrosion and moisture. Won't hurt a thing.

Howdy, I was just about to post this very problem with my trans hunting for differnt gears a 30 MPH and 45 MPH, what a pain in the rear.

Where is the APPS located, Mine does the same thing when its damp out side.

And where can you get Dielectric Grease.

Thanks TJ

TJ,

When you are facing your engine, you see the airhorn on the right (your dipstick is bolted to it). Just in front of that you will see 3 bolts holding down a triangular looking piece of aluminum with a black piece of plastic fastened to it. If you remove those three bolts and gently turn that piece about 90 degrees there should be 6 pin/wire connector under it. That connector is connected to the APPS. Undo the connector and spray some electrical contact cleaner in there and let it dry, should only take a few seconds. The first time this happened to me mine was full of s***. But spray some contact cleaner in there first then go drive it. If it clears up the problem then go back and put some grease in there. But wait until you have the problem fixed. I would hate for you to put grease in there and have to dig it back out while you were still troubleshooting the problem. Not sure where you can get the grease, i threw all mine away when i left the aircraft business. The eletrical contact cleaner you can get at a hardware store or radio shack. Hope this all helps.

Yep it works.

I cleaned all my connectors yesterday and added the Dielectric Grease and my trans has stopped hunting gears at low RPM and no more Tack bounce .

Thanks TJ

I bought the Cleaner & Grease at Discount Auto Parts for under 5 Bucks
