Extra $500

Kinda hard to say..... I have received similar mailings in the past, since the March 30th, 2003 purchase of my '03, but they were at the wrong time. I'd guess the mailings are somewhat target in nature though.

I was at $2500 at time of order and now I'm at $3500 with hopefully another $500 in the mail after Monday ! Oo.

For you Oregonites out there here is the website for the Oregon Farm Bureau. www.oregonfb.org In Oregon it costs between $80 and $100 (depends on the county to live in) to join and get the $500 discount and you have to be a member for at least 30 days to qualify. I will just make the 30 day requirement. It has some other benefits that I might possibly use so I thought the $90 it cost was worth the $500 savings.

Hi everyone. Here is what I know about the mailer:

This is what Dodge calls a TDM "Target Direct Mailer". They use many different means to gather names and addresses to send these to including: Hand Raisers, people who go to the Dodge website and as for a brochure or request a quote. The target competitive owners by looking at vehicle registrations for Ford and Chevy trucks that are two or three years old and may soon be in the market to "trade in".

They also target current owners, if you have seen an actual invoice, you may have noticed a $25 Customer Loyalty Mail fee. If you bought a truck in the past, you paid for the stamp to send you that $500 coupon... seems worth it now huh?

If you are in one of these categories, but have not received a "coupon" in the mail, here is why. Your local dealer has to download what they call the "Galley List" and pay for the mailer. If they are to cheap to do so, you may still have a chance. After a cutoff date, they will re-distribute the names on the list that have not been downloaded to area dealers who have downloaded their list. Then a second wave of mailings will go out.

According to the program rules I read, they will not add any names to the list, so if you are not on the list, I doubt you can call any numbers to get on the list. I would be calling my local dealer and finding out if they downloaded the galley list. They still have time to do it. If they refuse or don't give you a warm fuzzy, call another dealer in the area and try again.

A quick warning though, they will probably try to turn your request around on you with a line like "Why don't you come down and pick out the truck you like. I will see to it we give you the discount even though you don't have the coupon. "

Well I actually fit some of those qualifications for the $500 coupon... I did request a brochure from Dodge (no coupon) but it was pretty much worthless and took a month to get. I am also a current owner of a 98. 5 and probably did pay the $25 Customer Loyalty Fee.

As for calling my local dealer (Lithia) and requesting them to do anything is not gonna happen. My recent dealings with them have been less than memorable and once they figured out who it was they would probably hang up anyway.

If the coupon shows up prior to my trip to Spokane then fine, if it don't I am still pleased with the deal I am getting from Dishman Dodge and Adam. Keep up the good work Adam!

Here is the number to the Nevada Farm Bureau $15. 00 (and they have no problem with out of state membership) 1-800-992-1106. But you have to be a member for thirty days as stated above. I called mine in the day I placed my order and received my discount cupon with two weeks to spare,

There are some good places to buy a truck in the NW. Dishman Dodge is one of them, as they will bend over back wards to get you all the discounts available. Their extra $1000 is significant. I came close to buying my 2005 from them, but they did not have the model I wanted in stock. I called Dave Smith in Kellogg Idaho and they had two. They not only gave me all the discounts ($500 farm bureau, if you are a member, $2500 Chrysler discount, $1000 discount for financing thru Chrysler (which I refinanced with my local credit union before the first payment was due --- Chrysler had lousy interest rates), they also had a special on at the time and gave me an additional $500 off. I flew into Spokane. They met me with a courtesy van, and drove me over to Kellogg (about 45 minutes). I inspected the truck and bought it. They were pretty busy so it took a couple of hours or more to do the spray in liner, and add some trim, but I was out of the dealer and back on the road home that afternoon. Good time to get acquainted and break my new truck in. Very positive experience... ;)

Dave Smith Motors

I ordered mine through DSM @ a bargain price and had super luck with them. To the guys who may be past the cutoff date for special orders or just want to fly up and pick something off the lot, they're hard to beat. Installation dept. is well staffed and experienced. Myself and three others here in San Diego have used them with overall good luck. The place is so big that if you don't work for DSM in Kellogg, you don't work. :) I went through Les McDaniel@ 1-800-635-8000x1302. Mention Dave Anderson if you will as I owe the guy. Thanks.

Safe flight and post your mileage findings with the new auto. Should be pretty darn good and will improve with time.

Looks like CNN was reading my mind... .

Housing market ills compound lax auto sales
At NY International Auto Show, GM and Chrysler report soft demand, while troubles in housing, credit markets could affect automakers, especially Ford, in truck sales.
April 4 2007: 5:26 PM EDT

NEW YORK (Reuters) -- Ford Motor Co. could take the biggest hit among automakers from weakness in the housing and credit markets, its North American operations head said, because of its dominance in the market for pickup trucks, the staple vehicle of the construction industry.

No immediate upturn in industry auto sales is in sight, Ford's (Charts) Mark Fields also told reporters at the New York International Auto Show Wednesday, amid mixed signals coming from the U. S. housing market.

Weak housing starts have hurt sales of pickup trucks, typically purchased by construction workers.

"When you look at the pickup truck segment, because we are a leader there, because that is the segment it most impacts, we could have the biggest impact," said Fields, answering questions on the slowdown in the U. S. housing market.

"It's not so much the subprime, it's overall what's happening in the housing industry," he specified. "We're not banking on any huge upticks in the industry, we're going to monitor the situation month to month. "
Big Three sales slide continues

Tuesday, Ford reported a 15 percent drop in monthly sales of its market-leading F-Series pickup trucks, in a generally poor month for U. S. automakers.

The crisis in the risky subprime lending segment has not directly affected Ford so far, Fields said, but could if it spreads to the broader market.

"We haven't seen customers explicitly say, 'Oh my gosh, I've seen equity in my house go down 20 percent, so therefore I'm not going to buy a car,'" he observed.

"The worry is what happens if the subprime issues roll over into the general market, which then can really bring the housing segment down, and then at a certain point it would become a problem. "
GM sees softer sales as well

General Motors Corp. 's (Charts) head of North American operations also said he expects second-quarter sales to be softer than initially forecast due to weaker overall industry conditions than GM had anticipated.

Speaking on the sidelines of the New York International Auto Show, Troy Clarke said the company is scaling back production on some cars and midsize sport utility vehicles to cope with softer demand.

"We thought the market would be stronger," he said.

The automaker plans to offer strategic incentives on several products this summer, including its line of newly redesigned pickup trucks, Clarke said.

Chrysler on track despite worries

Top Chrysler Group executives said the automaker's sales and product lines are on track despite the distractions of a possible sale by German parent DaimlerChrysler AG (Charts).

DaimlerChrysler acknowledged for the first time earlier Wednesday it was talking with prospective buyers of its loss-making Chrysler Group unit but did not identify the bidders or commit itself to a sale.

"It would be foolish for me to say it doesn't have any effect whatsoever," said Steven Landry, vice president of sales and field operations for Chrysler, in an interview at the auto show. "It certainly does, but it's a very unique and hopefully not a frequent situation to have. "

Landry said that despite an 8 percent dip in March sales, Chrysler still hit its internal monthly sales target last month, and it was working to allay concerns among its dealers.

"The brands aren't changing, the products aren't changing," said Landry. "Our good dealers understand that we'll be selling Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep for an awfully long time. "

Frank Klegon, Chrysler's executive vice president of product development, said the situation had not so far affected its development of new cars and trucks.

"There's always a little anxiety from a personal level," said Klegon, in an interview, also at the auto show. "The good news from the product side is that the product plan is intact. There's a lot of future there. "

He declined to say whether he would prefer Chrysler to be taken over by another automaker, or private equity interests, which sources close to the situation have said are front-runners in the bidding for Chrysler.

"What I look for is a partner that'll continue, on a long-term basis, to invest and promote this business and make Chrysler stronger," he said.

I'm telling you these incentives that you see now are chump change to what's probably coming.

Personally I suspect that they will and are controlling dealer stock far better than recent years. Recall that only last week it was feared that we had reached model year production quotas on the more popular configurations. So I'm not suscribing to the sky is falling mindset and will just be real satisfied to be getting the exact truck I want and need for $12,047. 00 under sticker and $5500. 00 inback of FWP. Those willing to speculate, go right ahead and pick through what some sales manager somewhere thought you wanted to drive for whatever greater incentive may or may not materialize.
