Frequency of lifter failure in CGI 6.7 ?

Re Gen

I’m in the same boat as 06 Dodge. Passive regen using archoil is much easier to achieve during my daily hwy commute to and from work, when not towing. Not sure about a bunch of short trips and soot loading, I only do that on occasion, a majority of my miles are hwy. I used the cleaner first before switching to the daily treatment. I use the regular dose, not the performance dose. MPGs are of little concern to me, my concern was the soot loading, which it has helped with. YMMV.

During the last 20 engine hours my truck has only traveled 523 miles an to my surprise the DPF has only risen to 12.5% and stayed there for the past 5 engine hours without a forced regen, that is some thing it has never done without max weight in the bed, so for me the Archoil is doing what it claims to help reduce soot in DPF and I hope it keeps doing what it has so far only time will tell...

I’ve been thinking about trying it out but haven’t been able to find it anywhere local. Sounds like it’s been helping folks. My DPF gauge will start rising as soon as I unhook my trailer after driving 100 hwy miles and it drives me nuts. It’s almost immediately.

I haven’t seen much about the regen issue on this forum surprisingly so for those that are curious, here’s an active thread that is updated almost daily. This is where I read about it and I’m assuming the same for OP.

I bought mine off of the Zon. Was a cleaner and daily use combo pack. I believe if you go directly to the archoil site you can enter an email address and save 10%.

*Edit - I have no affiliation with said company, but the stuff does work.

Got the combo pack a couple of days ago. I plan on putting the cleaner in today. I’m still under warranty but hearing a bunch of stories of peoples trucks being out for a month or more makes me hesitant to take it in. I need my truck, especially for the summer. Hopefully Stellantis gets things figured out…. But this has been going on a while so I’m starting to doubt they will or if they even care.

What is the Cummins approved alternative? Does the Archoil void the warranty on our trucks?

Power Service Diesel Kleen. I’ve used it and didn’t notice any difference with regens. They will have to prove that an additive caused whatever the damage would be. That goes for anything non OEM. Look up the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. I once read that a dealer was voiding someone’s warranty because they didn’t use Mopar DEF fluid. Granted it was online so who knows the validity behind that.

I understand that. It makes the fuel supposedly burn hotter so you use less def

The main reason people are looking to certain additives as of late is to regen less often. Yes it’s to increase the temps but in this case it’s not to use less DEF. I can see why some would think to use it in order to use less def. If that’s the case, I didn’t know that was a thing. In fact, I have noticed that I use more DEF when the temps are higher and when hauling which I believe it is designed that way. DEF use is probably one of the last things on my radar at the moment. A lot of people are regening less than 200ish miles and are seeking help from dealers and not really getting anywhere with it. The attached thread above has a lot of info and interesting experiences.

DEF is used to control NOx. Nox is produced by high combustion temps and high cylinder pressure. So the hotter the ambient is, the hotter the combustion chamber is, so more DEF is required to reduce NOx. Same reason you use more DEF towing, higher load = higher combustion chamber temps, more DEF required to reduce NOx levels.

Thanks for the confirmation!

I was a distributor and dealer of Archoil products until I retired. I originally tried different additive vendors and settled on Archoil (and Optilube) because Archoil seemed the most current Nano technology and had in-house engineers constantly testing for perfection. More importantly, their products worked. The best example was their AR9100. Anyone with stiction problems with their 7.3 or 6.0 Powerstroles was cured/fixed with AR9100. If it didn't cure their problem, it wasn't stiction, it was injector trouble. The only reservation I had with Archoil was their mileage claims. As with any additive, mileage is so subjective and depends on so many conditions, I don't think you can measure any effect using an additive.
