2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Are shocks on these trucks hard to change?

Nope... I think the hardest part was loosening the stabilizer bar on the rear to allow easy change of the rear shocks. Make sure you don't over-tighten the top mounts on the front shocks as it may cause early failure of the rubber grommet. Do a search on the subject and you'll find lots of help here.

I've got knuckle banged blood stains on the underside of the bed. :{ The rears were a chore ... the upper bolts that is. Hope yours is easier. You might want to spray the all the appropriate threads with some penetrating oil in advance, being you've got some time.

I just changed mine about 2 months ago. The rear shocks were actually easier for me than the fronts. Use a ratchet with a long extension through the rear wheel well and remove the bolts. The nuts have an ear on them which keeps them from spinning around. The fronts you will need to remove the shock tower on the drivers side in order to get the shock out due to things being in the way. Not to hard of a job.

The best tip I can give is to wire brush the threads before you do any thing. If you do that, the nuts will come off with your fingers after they are loosened.

Mine went in fairly easy, for the most part. Had problems with the front drivers side shock. The Bilstien shocks are stiffer than the OEM shocks. Had to have help holding down the shock tower. Was hard to hold it down and start the nuts since I couldn't push straight down on it, like i could on the other side. Rears were a piece of cake. Didn't all without using the impact (someone else was using the air hose). No biggie. It all came apart easy for me.
