I been wanting to have the bed sprayed with the Line-x bedliner, there's a place that does it about 25 miles away from were I live. Has anyone had any problems with Line-x bedliner. Had not had the chance to call them on pricing and how long it would take to do it. My truck is the shortbed!:)

I had Line-X sprayed in both my '97 Ram and my Dad's 2001 Powerstroke a couple of years back. It has held up very well in the Texas sun and is remarkably tough. I had it done in Ft. Worth, don't remember exactly what it cost but it was in the neighborhood of $400. Worth the money.

Be aware, it is a very tough finish and will act as an abrasive on just about anything you put in the bed - camper shell, furniture, etc. This hardness is why I chose Line-X over Rhino, you can slide stuff like sacks of feed around in the bed easily.

Also watch out for fuel additives on spray-in bedliners, I fumbled a bottle of Stanadyne and it sort of melted the Line-X and made it sticky in that spot.

I've had both Line-X and Rhino, and I think the Line-X is much better- It holds up much better and is much less resistant to being gouged and torn.

Make sure you get UV topcoat for your Line-x- it really helps to keep it looking new, and make sure that you check out the installer and his work. The installer and how the truck is prepped are very important factors- you can have a great product with a bad installation.

I had Line-X in my truck and it has held up very well. I had it just sprayed in under the rail and I will have it over the rail next time. ('04 on order) I hauled a few loads of gravel and when it was put in the truck the rail got a few chips, they were careful but it happens. Definately worth the money. :D

When I put the wheel to wheel lonestar running bars(nerf bars with diamond plate welded on them for a step)I had them sprayed with Line-X and they are holding up very good but its only been about a year.

Line-X

Tony T, I had a Line-X in my 99 Dodge, my wife and I made a trip to the high country of Colorado and picked up several large boulders and pieces of wood from the forest (not public land) to use for decorations. Those large stones, boulders and pieces of wood went on the rest of our vacation and then returned to South Texas, over 1800 miles in the bed. When I got home, I unloaded the cargo, rinsed out the bed, and not one scratch or wear mark in the entire bed! When I got my 03, I had a Line-X sprayed in within a week. The Line-X is money well spent if you are trying to save your bed from damage. I paid about $350 for a long bed, over the rail application.

Dumb question...

When I was looking into getting a spray in bed liner to protect the bed of the truck, I was told that they have to prepare the surface so that the liner would stick. Sounds like they have to scratch the **** out of the paint to give it a good surface.

So I decided to throw a rubber mat in the bottom ($60), and wait to see if the bed does get scratched up. Someday I'l like to have spray in bed liner but for now the rubber mat works great. Probably adds more the dent Resistance on the bottom of the bed too.

I tried a drop in liner and it caused more damage that it prevented.

BTW. with the exception of when it is carrying a camper this truck serves as a cool car with a big trunk. :)

The bed is prepped with 80 grit paper. That's the idea of a spray-in = permanent.

Haven't done mine yet. Little power enhancers keep popping up. Line-X is what I'll get, when they put a sale on it.

I have had Line-x installed in both my current truck and my previous 1/2 ton. I have been very happy with it, but as mentioned before, I highly recommend the UV protectant. Without it, the liner will lighten up considerably in the sun. I put it on mine about 2 years after it was installed and it looks like new!

I've had three different liners, Rhino, Diamond and Line-X. While Line-X was the strongest of the three (in fact, I was very UNHAPPY with Diamond and Rhino), I was still disappointed with the UV damage it suffered, even though the UV coating was installed.

The last two trucks I've owned have had Bed Rugs. They work so well that I don't think I'll ever go back to a spray-in liner.

yes very happy with it. i got my in mesquite, only took 1/2 a day

I had my mine done yesterday, love it! They needed it for 2 hours, cost was $395 for over the rail.

While I was at it, I removed my folding storage floors and had them spray them ($40) so my tools wouldn't slide around :D

It's one of the best things I've done to my truck and I don't know why I waited so long.

Duck, did your fold flat floor still fit as nice after they were sprayed? I had thought that the floor was too slick and your idea to spray it is a good one!

There is some variability in the hardness of the coating; I suspect due to how it is done and by whom. My 01 was much softer-- stickier--than my 03. I like my 03 better. Both have been very durable.

Of Course they have to sand the truck to give it some grit for the liner to attach to, it would be like telling someone to paint your car without sanding it first. Sprayed on liners are permenant.

What exactly didn't you like about the Rhino and the line-x, other then uv fade?

I have Rhino in my Dakota since Dec 97 . I'm pleased with how it has worked in the bed, the tailgate was a different story. But the problems with the gate stemmed from bad surface prep.

I was going to do either Rhino or Lin-x in the bed of the 04. I originally was going to doa bed rug until I read somewhere that it's hard to get sand out of and sliding stuff in like lumber, tends to get snagged on the rug.

Nick- Not sure what Phil didn't like about his Rhino, but all of the liners will fade over time. Line-X has a new UV coating you can put over the finished spray product that helps keep it looking glossy new and prevents fading.

As for myself, my reason for not liking the Rhino was that it was too soft and didn't hold up well to heavy use. It gouged much easier than the Line-X, and granted, maybe it was just me or my Rhino installer, but the LineX seems to be put on much thicker. The one thing I did like about the Rhino is that things didn't slide around as much as they do with Line-X.
