Any of you guys out there have a sprayed in bed liner by ARMA liner?? I saw a HD 2500 chevy dura-crap the local shop did here, they did a very nice job. All of the tape lines looked clean and straight. The samples felt like rhino liner material, but with a finer more consistant finish. They told me this stuff was sprayed on hot. any info would be helpfull. Phil

Rubberneck,

I had ARMA Coatings do my liner about a month ago. Talked with the owner of the shop quite a bit first. He and his crew are CTD fans, owner is on his 3rd CTD with a red 99 dually. Anyway, he tells me that the two guys who started the Line-X company had a fight, one guy split off and formed Armacoatings. He claims that both Line-X and Armacoatings use exactly the same product, even buy it from the same manufacturer. The only difference, I'm told, is the way in which the truck is prepped before spraying the liner in. Supposedly, Line-X companies just roughen up the paint surface, while Armacoatings shops actually strip the paint all the way to bare metal before spraying the liner in.

I can't vouch for this, but so far I am very happy with my liner, and am seriously considering taking it back to have the rocker panels done, as Steve St. Laurent did on his truck recently.

Tom

Thanks for the info Tom, got a question for you. I had a guy tell me that he had a line x, and that it seemed to be a harder material than the rhino liner, more like the material a drop in liner would be made of, and he felt things slid around more on the line x than on his old rhino. If the arma and the line x are the same, i would expect you would have noticed the same thing, what do you think, is he full of it. I sure like the way the finish looks compared to the rhino. Phil

cargo does not slid on the arma coated liner

and Rhino is too soft it cuts easy...

Rubberneck, I have seen a few trucks with Rhino-liner, HVAC's for one. It does indeed feel softer ("squishier") to the touch, and when I was asking these same questions earlier about spray in liners, I got much the same answers - Rhino is softer and tears/chips easier. My Arma liner and my car pool buddy's Line-X do feel and seem to be identical.

Another example: Rhino liner looks like a modern houses interior walls, what is called tape and texturing. Line-X and Arma are more like 60 grit sand paper. Does that help illustrate the differences for you?

I haven't really hauled anything yet, only had the arma liner for about 3 weeks now. But in my buddy's Line-X truck, nothing seems to slide around much.

I had an Arma in my 96 gasser since it was new. Liked it very much. Like everyone has stated above, except I found stuff did slide around on it. Tough liner.

I think the important part is the quality of the job done. Crappy job, crappy liner. I think you would be happy with any of these, as long as the job is done right.

Its too bad my current 97 rattler came with a bedliner and a bedmat already installed. Cant bring myself to spend the money on a sprayin, when I got this already in there. But when the need arises I have no problem with getting another Arma.

I think it has alot to do with where you have it done. I have Rhinolinings in my truck. I have seen Line-x and Armaliner. I picked Rhinolinings because it looks the nicest and offers extra cushioning. I dont carry anything extremely heavy or abrasive so i am not worried about it being soft. I got mine done in DE. I saw another truck with Rhinolinings that looked like hell. He had it done somewhere in MD i think. I have also seen Horrible Line-x and Armaliners and then i have seen really nice ones. It seems the quality is only as good as the installer. Whatever brand you go with, try and see some of the installers work first to be sure they know what they are doing. Make sure you get what you pay for.
