I had my twins installed at Relentless diesel this weekend. I am quite happy with them. I went to the dyno today and it went 622 hp and 1222 on torque. The dyno pulls were made using no correction factor and at 98 degrees with 30 percent humidity. The truck runs extremely well and my highest egt has been 1250 degrees. I am very pleased with the kits fit and finish and Relentless Diesel has been a great help in my hunt for more power.

Wow, thats some serious pony man. Thats at the rear wheels too, the "older" 3406 Cat @ 550hp is rated at something like 1300 or 1350 torque, at more than twice the displacement!!

Gotta love 3rd gens! - TST/EZ and good amount of cool air charge, and your over 600!!

Is the TST/EZ the only fueling mods? Or do you have any n2o, or injectors?

I am currently trying to decide if i want to buy injectors or not. The injector tips i have seen for 04. 5's are expensive and ive not seen anyone pickup good horsepower with them.

Chris built my transmission and while I was there i saw a set of the arctic air twins. I was verry impressed and have started saving my change. That is my next upgrade :D

What Jim said... ... ... ... ... . I have had the opportunity to see Chris launch a turbo into his hood and cause a massive dent  . Also saw him loose a turbo out past the eight mile marker on a quarter mile track (Baytown Texas, Clash Of The Titans 2003) and coast thru at around 13. 5   . Gitchusum had a video posted of this run somewhere.

Chris is one hell of a nice guy and like Jim said "knows his stuff"... ... . RCCox you are in good hands working with Chris.

Jim

Really sweeeeet numbers.

I just order my set from Relentless recently. Are you running the twins program TST? What levels are you running on the TST and EZ?

I would wait for Don M ( www.f1diesel.com ) to finish up on his EDM's for the 600's, (they are worth it!) If not he and some other big names are selling cams that are pretty nice as well such as piers and shied. Other than that the fuel rail will dry up at the upper 600 mark so you are getting close to the edge in fuel.

I have a questions about these twins... .

How is it possible to push 600 HP through a 9cm exhaust housing and maintain low EGT's? The drive pressure alone have got to be crazy high! That poor HY9 must be hanging on for dear life. With no external wastegate to bypass that tiny top turbo you are just asking for trouble at that HP level.

If I may borrow a quote from a couple posts up.....

Do you see a pattern here??

I'm sure I'm going to prove my ignorance here but, can you still run the Jacob's exhaust brake with this set-up? I want twins for towing, not racing and I drag a 40' enclosed trailer, filled with rock buggies, back and forth across the Rockies. I don't want to lose my exhaust brake but, I do want a set of twins.

When I talked to chris about these twins he said that they had been running them for a while. I met the guy who has them and he said that he has flogged them from day 1. Maybe Chris will chime in hear!

Brad

I don't know how to show quotes from previous post's... ..... my computer is not that smart. But in defense of Chris and MY mention of his problems, he was doing his own R & D. He tried things others said would not work. Sometimes with great results, sometimes not. Most all diesel shops tear up equipment, some more than others. All along the way, he was learning more and more about making the Cummins humm.

Chris was one of, if not the first, Texas guy to venture up to Indy (or whatever it was called in the early days) and hook up to a sled. As strange as it sounds, Texas is NOT a hotbed of pulling action. As I understand, he took more than a little grief :-laf from the seasoned pullers. Chris went a long way with a single turbo before switching to the twins.

Not a slam on anyone, just a clarification of my above post.

Later, Jim

Camp, You can maintain the use of an exhaust brake on any set of twins. You will not be able to use the turbo mount kind, but rather a 4" or 5" inline brake mounted in the exhaust pipe. I will most likely be usig the pacbrake PXRB 5" inline brake with my twins.

Thanks for the info. Darn it, I was hoping I could use the brake I already have but, I guess I will just sell it when I go to twins. :{

Member "robertyoke" built his own set using the turbo mounted exhaust brake between the two turbos, so it is possible. There is a thread with pictures somewhere, just search on his name. It will probably be easier to just get an inline brake though.

I think you'll get your answer if you call Chris....
