Well it’s nearly time to change the fluid on my 2020 Aisin.

looks like there used to be a tag on the passenger side of the transmission that read to use Mobil 3309.

so I bought 3 gallons
In preparation.

I just climbed under the truck and my label say’s WARNING use ONLY Mopar ASRC fluid!

damnit, I have an 8 year warranty and don’t want to risk it so I bought 3 gallons of the ASRC.

don’t know what I’m going to do with the Mobil stuff. Maybe ebay
 
Well I was finally able to get a good look at the tag

couldn’t see it because the rear seat floor storage compartment blocked it from view.

finally got a photo of the tag and 3309 is mentioned specifically!

mill bet they make the stuff for mopar and all mopar does is Jack up the price!
 
It seems according to the label, the allude to the mopar fluid being made my mobile, yes I have also read that people report smoother shifts after switching to the Mobil 3309.

I know that this is poking a hornets nest, but if it is the same fluid, why the reports of better shifts?

so I guess, what I’m asking, is there a real World difference?
 
Just use AMZ/OIL ATF. Yes it will pass muster.
I had a 1998.5 and did the switch to amzoil.
The transmission slipped, shifted like it was a long slow sliiiideee into the next gear!

I knew the transmission was tearing itself up!

had to pay for a full live complete flush with atf+3 (4)

everything went back to normal.

will never use any amzoil product again!

just my 2cents, and I’m glad if it works for you.

Any new fluid most likely makes it seem like it shifts better, that is why you change the fluid.
 
I have 30,000 on my 3309 fluid without any issues in my 18. I'm about to change it again with the same 3309 for what it's worth.

My wife’s 03 4Runner was the last year that the 4Runner had a trans that spec’d T-IV. We switched to Amsoil ATF at 30K miles. It’s at 222K now. I also ran Amsoil in the ‘18 AS69RC and will again in the ‘22, thou I’ll stick with the short factory change intervals thru the warranty period.
 
Have used 3309 since my first change with no issues. Pull a 12,500 lb. 5TH wheel, I know that isn't heavy compared to what most folks are pulling but so far so good.

Remember EB? He probably had the first Aisin AS68RC by a TDR member and put some serious miles on it, with (I assume) plain jane Mobil 3309, about 650k at last report, (2016). He changed fluid at 60K intervals because of this report. Thread is old and locked so I can't post a link. I will copy/paste.

"Because of some confusion between the owners manuel and the warranty book I went to the dealer the other day to try and get the answer. My owners manuel says to change the fluid in the Aisin transmission every 30,000 miles, (I am getting close) the warranty manuel says to change it every 60,000 miles. Turns out that the warranty book is right. Under severe service, heavy towing ect, it is changed every 60k. Under normal duty the fluid is changed every 120k. Sounds like they are fairly confident of the Aisin transmission. Good thing the fluid change is 60k, they don't even have any filters in the warehouse in Dallas. The filters cost $101. 00, the gaskets for the transmission is not supposed to be reused and a new one cost $48. 00, and the fluid cost $9. 60 a qt. , it takes 8 qts. A fairly expensive operation, don't know what the dealer might charge for doing it. I'll be doing my own."

"Changed mine at 50,400, and again at 115,500, a little overdue. Changed the filter both times. The filter looks pretty much just like the ones in the old Dodge transmissions, don't know why they cost so much. I believe they call for 8 qts. for the change but mine took more than that. The gasket can be reused, but you will have to clean the pan and stick the gasket to it with a gasket glue, otherwise it will drip all over you and everything else while you try to line up the holes. It is pretty much a straight forward filter and oil change."

Don’t know your details but I have used AMZ/OIL atf In many applications including 6 speed stick, transfer cases snd several types of auto trans mostly doing complete fluid exchanges with no I’ll effects.

I’m really happy you are having success with that stuff, but when I tried it, it made my transmission shift so bad, I parked it until I could get an appointment for a full flush.

evidently, as posted above, Aisin is still using an old non synthetic fluid, hence the frequent changes.

I will stick with what aisin insists on.

now if they offer a synthetic that will keep my warranty intact, I might try it.

I paid for an 8 year extended warranty, and it cost a lot, especially on top of an 80 thousand dollar truck.

transmission repairs are expensive, and I know Ram will do whatever they can to deny coverage.

if my transmission let go, I know they would be sending a sample of the fluid to see what it was, and want proof of service intervals.
Mobil 3309 is on the tag, cheaper than the mopar stuff, and is not going to void warranty.

when the warranty expires, I’ll sell or trade the truck for a new one.

but this 2020 may out live me!
 
I have a REMAN AISIN in my truck by showing documentation of both AMZ/OIL and MOPAR fluids along with AISIN filter. The reman has nothing to do with the fluid used. In fact the reman has 100% AMZ/OIL in it from when it was installed one year ago.

If Chrysler didn't feel AMZ/OIL was ok to use they sure would have tried to deny warranty replacement.

ASRC is printed on the Amsoil bottle (as is JWS3309 and other 3309 equivalents)… so there is your synthetic that will keep your warranty intact. I also have the Mopar 8 year warranty and have zero thoughts that Amsoil ATF will void my warranty, or cause a claim to be denied.

Your one Amsoil instance sounds like it cleaned crud out of your trans, which it will do, and thus the crud caused shifting issues, which it will. The full flush then got all the crap out of the trans and it went back to normal. I would hardly call that Amsoil’s fault.

Amsoil is well known for cleaning deposits that other fluids and oils don’t. It’s why Amsoil, and other quality synthetics, get blamed for making engines leak when really they just cleaned the gunk plugging the bad seal. Semantics, maybe… but it’s a quality of good oils. When I change higher mileage motors that I don’t know the service history of over to Amsoil I always do a shorter filter interval at first just for that reason.

Not saying you have to run Amsoil, just giving you a likely explanation for what happened.

I think you meant ASRC not AS68RS.

ASRC is simply a fluid spec, as is 3309 of which Mobil happens to make one. This discussion hasn’t strayed from those spec’d fluids, so hardly a hornets nest.

So two years or 30 k drain the atf fluid add make up then four years or 60 k drain pan drop new filter so I take it you Amsoil guys are going to mix and match fluids for a while I’m not anti Amsoil so don’t flame me .Just the mix part is my concern.suppose there’s nothing wrong with it. We have 16 inch of new snow and still snowing heard. We will send you some ho ho ho
