Has anyone with a 2002 RAM tried putting the handle over the passenger door on? DC ripped everyone off with the 2002's by not giving you hood liners, rear wheel wells and the over your head handle for the passenger to hang onto. The part number for 2000 & 2001 is 5DZ3 9SL2. I have a 2000, dad & uncle have 2002's. I felt the area where it should be bolted and feels like the mounts are still there. We would also like them over the driver door but that is not an OEM application so not sure if they will attach. Any comments?

Overhead handles

I didn't know that they came with overhead grab handles. You're not talking about the "A" pillars are you?I know my wifes Dakota has the overhead type not the pillar type.

Not talking about A pillars. I am talking about the one you did not get in your 2002. . I have electronic . PDF files that are from DC and looked up 2000 & 2001. The same page number for 2002 omits the handle. Also, I have a 2000 and KNOW that I have one! You can feel the actual area where you would bolt yours into on the 2002. . I am going to take mine off and check for fit on my dad's 2002. He wants one driver side also so I will check that too. It feels like there are two mounting points there as well. .

Strap

Howdy,

I put one on mine. Even had the screw holes on mounting pad.

They really shrunk the candy bar on 01's ,no applique on

bottom of tail gate,no body moulding on bed either

Just drop the headliner and you will see the mounting.

I just pushed a needle thru the headliner and found the

screw holes. ZAP it was in. .

GREAT! Figured they would. Did the handle come with the bolts? Also, did you try the driver side, and what is a candy bar??

I'd luv to show a pic of my carpool rider... 350#plus, and still can't find the handles. . at least I have two of them on the passenger side. They haven't been torn loose yet, but... ... ..... <G><G>

Yes...on my 99

The correct mounts for putting that handle over the driver's seat were there on my 99. I unscrewed the quad-cab top plastic door latch cover thing and used a putty knife to pull the headliner down just enough to visually verify the mounts were there.

The install was very easy. I also took off the visor and that gave me enough give in the headliner to screw the screws in above the headliner and then push the headliner up, giving me screw sized marks where the holes should be. The a little time with a hobby knife cleaning up the holes and it fits just like it should. If you didn't know it wasn't there originally, you would never guess. It makes a nice place to hang an arm when on long cross country trips, and my vertically challenged wife uses it to get in and out.

Has anyone ordered one of these handles recently? I ordered and paid for one in early June and still haven't gotten it! Parts guy showed 300 and something back ordered nationwide last time I checked. I'll sure be mad if he's feeding me a line of poop!

You might have luck at a wrecking yard. I believe all of the handles were the same color, regardless of the interior - just like the headliners. And every truck had at least one - up to the 2001's!

That will depend on what 01 you get. My buddy's is the early 01 (rear drum brakes) and he has a strap over the door. I have a late 01 (hence 01. 5) and mine has rear disc brakes and no strap over the door.

However I am glad to hear some of you report that they can be installed quite easily. Thanks for the info. Now I just need to order one. Maybe it will be here next summer.

Overhead Grap Handle...

Does anybody know if the overhead grap handle can be installed on driver's side? I can feel two screw head's under the headliner but the spacing is different. :(

I have one ready to install. :p

Yes

Yes, at least on my 99, it was easy to add to the drivers side. I took off the visor and the quad cab door trim thing and pried the headliner down with a putty knife to verify that the mount hole were there. Then I screwed the screws for the handle in above the headliner and pushed the headliner back into place, making holes where the screws should be. From there just a little trim with a hobby knife and the job was done.

rear wheel well liners on a 2002 2500-4X4

I sent a email to DC about the wheel well liners and the result was the dealer ordered and installed under warrenty. . I purchased the hood pad and the door sill protectors. . Depending on the dealer, you might have luck since in the parts accessories book there is a paragraph which does say on 4X4s the wheel well liners are factory provided. . 2WDs are out of luck I am afraid. .

Do you think DC will refund me what I spent to install the wheel liners on my '02 truck? Maybe all of us who either do not have the liners or have installed them ourselves need to writing DC.

PS: what was the email address you contacted?

DC email page; this page contains several places to email DC or contact them directly. I have found them responsive. .

depending on your location - try customer service, either US or Canada - simply state the facts - rants may not be well received - but do what you need to. . They did help me when I had a brake problem on my Dakota and did help me with the wheel well liners. Good Luck ask the question - you maybe pleasently surprised :)
