Having just bought a 2014, (had a 1995), I hope you are wrong. If you don't tow, you don't need a diesel. Time will tell as to whether it holds up or not. The 95 seemed to have more initial problems. Fuel tank capacity sensor had to be changed, Clutch chattered and had to be replaced. (5 speed manual). Alignment problem, steering wheel wasn't centered. The 2014 is perfect so far. The I actually thought I'd get a duramax but fell in love with the Ram. It's sits high off the ground (4 x 4) and is stiff but if you are going to load it, Ram is the truck you want. Personally opinion. But, I agree, the epa has made it difficult on diesels to meet regs.
