Customer purchase???

You coming up for the weekend Richard? Right on. We'll have to meet up!

Let me know if you need a hotel, I am working a deal with the local Holiday Inn Express for (I hope) a group rate or a discount. Right now they are $149 a night! :--)

I am runnning an Auto. I just wasn't launching it right. Driver error. Plenty of power to get there I think. I would be happy to see the low 12's, but I really want to hit the high 11's. Don't know I'm there yet!

OT-OF-HERE - So, then do you think I should have my customer hold off until the updated set is released?

Thanks for all the responses. This has been a very informative thread!

Definitely have your customer hold off until this new A-2k or whatever they will call it is ready. I'm not a beta tester for it so maybe someone who is will chime in but Mike @ ATS thought I'd have it in 2 to 3 weeks. I'll have it on a day or two later and then we'll know.

Mattymac, I've dynoed over 800 without NOS. When i dyno, i tune my engine for NOS. The engine in my truck has a stock long block. Stock valves, no port job, stock cam. I took not one, but two trucks, one with only 1200 miles on the odometer, and they took the two top DODGE spots at MM'06. I'm sure that i've tried many more turbos than you have. Probably 20 dif. singles and 10 sets of different twins. (the more testing on the dyno will tell the sory). Twins have made less power with the dyno testing i have done. Hey, I used to like twins, they looked impressive and i thought that they should beat everything, but every time i got on the dyno, I got beat by a truck with a big single. Twins heat up the air more, PERIOD! More boost is more heat. Go touch your air compressor when its running and its about 100 psi! More intake heat is less dense air and less oxygen. There are no bypasses to bypass 1300 cfm air through the small 700 cfm air turbo on the compressor side. I've done the dyno testing. Trucks with the same setup as mine, but with twins dyno over 150 HP less than mine, I wonder why? Any way, twins heat air, when the air is hot there is less oxygen. If you don't believe me then go spend(waste) your money and throw on a set of twins. Hardly anybody intercools between turbos and if you want to make top power with twins, then you need to intercool between the stages. Now lets compare apples to apples, we are talking about making HP, not drag racing or sled pulling. As far as driveablity, you have not driven in my truck, so don't go there. It pulls cattle trailers all over this Valley and beats anything thats next to it. I'm sure my setup would not be the best at 5000 ft, but at sea level it runs with any other turbo, at least on a common rail. As for 12v and older 24V trucks its harder to run a large turbo on the street, but the common rail engine tuned correct CAN run a large turbo very easy. Twins just take too much power to run and restrict too much on the intake and exhaust side. ALSO, mattymac, ... ... have you ever tried to take a leak in the wind, lol. Well, what do you think happens to your spray angle when you have 85 psi coming into your chamber. The tests have been performed, take it for what its worth. I run a single because it makes power, not because its simpler, more reliable, and cheaper. All in all, run what ya brung, spent your money the best way you see fit and i'll do the same. The numbers tell the story. No dispect intended, but you need to run the tests. I have a fealling you haven't, and thats okay. It just takes time, a lot of time. Oh, one more thing, the top 5 trucks at MM'06 this year were running big singles, just think of the power numbers if they were all running twins, oops.

i totally agree----thats the difference in making a combo work, knowing what your doing

Richard, I see some of your points, what Im trying to say is that if your making 50psi with a good single and 50psi with a good set of twins the air intake will be cooler from the twins at the same boost point because 50 psi for a good single is at the end of its efficiency whereas the twins are barely working and the compounding effect is more efficient in terms of keeping each turbo within its compressor map efficiency. Does it take more HP to drive twins? Alot of people could argue this but how much HP does it take to drive a single? Not much, so twins not much more. Yes more but not much since exhaust is WASTED thermal energy, backpressure should be the culprit here and what are the drive pressures for good twins and singles at over 50 PSI? If we were supercharging them thats a diffrent story.

If you are such a believer in singles why did you say that, "putting on twins will be quicker in the 1/4? Also you better hope that Wade (diesel power) doesnt read this because he may bad mouth your 800+ HP #'s on diesel only because he thinks he has the only one.

Richard, Im not bad mouthing or badgering anything about you or your way of doing things, Im just wanting to learn things. Im still fairly young and have a passion for this stuff. Could you tell us more about your truck and how its set up? You say you pull alot with it and I have a harder time doing that with the surging issues on the 66. What turbo? How many lbs of boost? pump mods, injectors? I hope youll be willing to share your set up with us so we can learn something from it.

i never said that my truck made 800+hp---never, but it has compleatly been blown out of proportion, mainly by people like YOU. all i said was that as of now i have the fastest CR on diesel w/ a single 12. 10 @ 115. 7---leave it alone, i have!!

Luken has anyone answered you about the "what best for daily driveing and 1/4 times" question

I am looking for the answers also

i am hunting for daily driven low 12 second high 11 1/4 times

what is the not only the fastest but the most RELIABLE/safest way to go?

i would answer your question's in a pm, doing it on the net is almost worthless, chech out my sig that should get you close.

All righty then,.......

Let's see if I have this right.

The $$$ spent on twins is a waste.

Singles out perform twins.

Singles run lower egts than twins.

I doubt it.

If any of the above happens then it's because the mapping is not right for the application just like putting on any other product that your truck is not equipped to handle. I submit that the dyno is not the end all in what is good for your truck as it doesn't have to last for more than a few miliseconds and because of that a setup that will dyno high will not run or last for long on the street under everyday conditions. So I see that as the old axiom ,..... "Mines biggest,... . but not for long"!!! Whatever happened to power with durability? My $. 02

The A3K will be for higher HP applications, not quicker spool-up from what i understand. I dont understand the slow spool-up comments with the Aurora twins. Im know each person has their own definition of lag, but I have never had an issue with mine even with stock fuel. I am currently running the Silver Bullet for comparison and this turbo has much more lag than the ATS twins. The reason I bring this up is everyone here says that the SB spools like twins, not so. Twins can not be replaced by a large single and get the same spool up. In the near future I will be adding more fuel which the Silver Bullet desperately needs and Im sure the lag will decrease. If you tow, go with twins, if you race... ... flip a coin?

Well I have the fastest YELLOW CR. :D Just messin... .

Diesel Power,

Do you have any times before you got your cp3 mod? I have a feeling that is the ticket... .

Thanks
