Looking for some input on Bellflower Transmission and the installation of there ATS transmission? Is there anyone out there with an ATS transmission that had it installed here? What are your impressions and how satisfied are you with there work? Would you go back and if you have had any problems did they take care of you? What did you have done and a break down of cost? You can send me a PM if you do not want to post for all to see, any input would be greatly appreciated. If anyone knows of other installers in So. Cal. area chime in and let me know. Thanks to all. Please no transmission wars, stick to the questions at hand. Dwayne... ... . :D

Dwayne, Talk to Bruce (1dslram)He had his done there and is very happy,If you would have been man enough to show up saturday and not belly ache about some "kidney stones" you could have gone for a ride with him!:--) Really hope they are all gone now. The trans works great.

Besides Bruce, we have at least two other members in out Local group who've had it done there. Both have been very happy with the work done. I don't think either of them are on line, I can get you in touch with them if you need more details, one just had it done a couple weeks back.

Could you do that for me, that would be great. Thanks. Oh and Oiler believe me I wanted to go bad, But I was up all night at the ER, when I got home I was going to go but had couple more attacks. Later thanks for the info... . Any more out there... ..... ????

I haven't been there, I actually went to Denver for my ATS, but I have spoken with Bob at Bellflower Trans and I was impressed that they knew their stuff and sounded like good guys to do business with.

Cummins Cal Pacific also will do the ATS, but I believe Bellflower has done more ATS trannys. I have heard a lot of good things about them and no bad things whatsoever.

When I spoke with Bob at Bellflower T. I asked if they had ever had an ATS come back, and he said "Never". Then he said when the first digital controllers came out, they had one of them go bad, and ATS over-nighted another one--no problem.

I had the guys install the ATS phase III at Bellflower. They know the product and they know the guys at ATS. I drove up from South Orange County to have it done. I think they had the truck for about 3 days. Well worth the trip. I even checked with ATS to find out if anyone else around here could do it, and they highly recommended Bellflower. You will love the results. The only issue is that with our California trucks you will get the check engine light code 1740 (engine rpm did not change a certain amount when TC locked up). I have talked with ATS and they claim to be working on a fix for this. For now I just check my codes often.

I talked to CCP last summer and they were doing the ATS. Also a buddy of mine who lives up the coast went to the Cummins Cal Pacific near Ventura and had an ATS put in. When did you talk to them?

2nd thoughts for now

Well I got the estimate and it's a bit steaper than I thought. They want $5,430 give or take a few bucks, to install my transmission. Plus the shipping and exchange my 45k transmission back to ATS plus my BD valve body. I'll call ATS when the times comes and see what we can do. I was planning on selling my BD valve body and pressure lock seperate. Almost worth it to drive to Co. and have it done. Any more suggestions... ... ... :( And I do realize this takes some cash but I think it's the shipping that will kill me... ...

ATS in Wheat Ridge, is only a mile or so off of I-70 right outside of Denver. Twice I have driven there on trips to Mo. or New Mexico. I do like to take trips though. If you can combine it in a trip that would be one way.

BUT... if you only have 45,000 miles on your trans, just put in the ATS Valve Body and the TripleLok TC! Then you will have the best components of the ATS system! And when your mileage gets up to 110k 120k 150k or so, you can get the rest of the trans re-built. I mean if the rest of the trans is good, there is NO NEED to get the entire thing rebuilt. Do you see what I mean? Just get the TripleLok and the VB! You will be WAY ahead of the game that way, saving your self a lot of money and STILL having ATS performance!

Exactly

I think that is what I will do. It is the shipping that is killing the price. I was just going to do the whole stage 4 thing because that is what ATS suggested I do with all the mods I will be running. They suggested it because of the extra clutches etc. But my transmission is in good shape although it gets hot real easy. I would like the commander also because I have the Pacbrake on the way. Thanks RRausch for the info I'll be talking with ya. Dwayne:cool: :D

There is one more cost for me also was I would have to figure out a way home if they kept my truck in Bellflower for 3 days, I would probably have to rent a car. I'm about 2 hrs north of there as the crow flies, but 4-5 hrs with traffic. Going to look for a closer place, plan to correct Cummins Ventura since thats only 20 min away.
