What oil are you using in your NV5600

How much would you pay for an AirDog?

This is a stupid question, the only replies you should take in are the very few people who have owned both. Everyone loves what they have since they have only had stock to compare to.

Me I went with DTT since it was close to $2,000 cheaper.

I am very happy with my DTT though just like people are very happy with ATS.

The $$$ was the deciding factor

Haven't had both but...

I've hauled and driven with both.

I'll stick with DTT!! That's going in my truck when the stocker pukes.

Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeminder!!!!!!!!!!

Enough already! None of this discussion is productive. People on both sides of this fence think that their side does no wrong and the other side does. The one thing that I am convinced of is that will NEVER change! Everyone needs to worry about their side of the fence and stay out of the others. NOTHING on this site fosters the level of discord, emotion, and anger that automatic transmission modifications do. I don't know why and don't really care - I just know that is the case.

We've tried time after time after time to get people to stick to the FACTS and keep out of personal attacks - and it comes back EVERY SINGLE time. The sponsorship issue will never go away in the minds of some. The problem on our side is what defines sponsorship? With each person you would ask there would be a different definition of it. Therefore we make no difference in the rules as they apply to people sponsored by a vendor and general users. That isn't going to change and it's pointless to debate it. We do hold vendors themselves to a higher standard and neither side likes it. Both feel that we apply the rules only to them and not the other side - which isn't the case.

The only solution I can come up with to stop this is to institute a rule that when it comes to automatic transmissions if a post is started about ATS trannies ONLY those with ATS trannies or stock can post to it. If a post is started about DTT trannies then ONLY those with DTT trannies or stock can post to it. Likewise with BD, Suncoast, Goerend, or others. I find it sad that it has to come to this but I don't see any other workable option based on the track record. These battles have been hashed out over and over again and nothing has come out of them other than people being ****** off and driving users away from the site. From here on out we will be deleting posts based on this policy. If you see a post that falls under this policy DO NOT fire back at that person - simply report the post and it will be taken care of.

If a post is asking a general transmission question you can post how your transmission modification works - but DON'T discuss the other side AT ALL. Posts WILL be deleted with no notice that do not meet this standard.

I'm sorry it has to come to this.

BTW ... DTT ;)

Oh I know however I posted that as a friendly reminder as indicated above. Things somehow seem to get dusty in shineytown in sparkle county every now and again

Can you please explain what it is you are talking about? You may have a point but as I see it, it doesn't apply here. We all know there have been problems in the past but after seeing this thread I thought that was all in the past. Maybe I missed something. Please show us where the problem response is?

The way i see it....

He was just putting a water on a fire waiting to happen. In other words he reminding the crowd of the rules before it got too intense. Read his post, he never said anyone broke the rules. "Just a friendly reminder"

The way I see it

The reminder to me is as out of place as a cop pulling you over while you were driving under the speed limit to remind you what the speed limit is. It must have been a really slow day and he just needed something to do I guess.

I have had my DTT for near three year and it just amazes me each trip, even to "Homey Dopey". Something you should consider is what you want the transmission to do. If you plan to use lock-up to transmit the power, better consider the new shafts. With the DTT lock-up is not an issue with me until the truck is up to speed or 45 mph. When I am loaded for a long trip we are talking 26K; and I feel very confident in what is transmitting the power :-laf

wilddiesel / Ken Jones/ Performance Diesel now ATS vendor , you really should identify your vendor affiliation. If I am not mistaken there is a rule about that. For those of you reading wilddiesel's statement and are curious . As a personal favor to Lawrence at DD and Brett and Taylor at Edge, Bill allowed Ken or wild diesel as he calls himself now, for his personal customer base to work with a local dodge dealership/builder . When it became appararent that OEM systems were better suited to this vendor, DTT ended the relationship . Eventhough Lawrence and Bill were, and still are good friends,Lawrence understood why it was necessary for DTT refuse further sales to Ken. Baker Diesel in Ogden Utah was, and is the only personally trained DTT build shop & installation center. This post is intended as a clarification only, I did not want my customers confused by the comment.

Ding Ding

Look I fired that up there as some of the newer members may or may not know that there have been actual wars ... Agrumentitive and friendships lost kinda stuff. Vendor's going after each other and even members vs members and it got u g l y. Ugly to the point that many that have been involved are no longer TDR members because of that.

In This case we have TWO main ingredients involved DTT AND ATS in the same thread. You can akin this to slapping a steak up against the bars at the lion cage. It may not be you or your neighbor but someone has a spoon or a kitchen aid with this threads name on it and it happens . That is why I put Steve St. Laurent's message as a quote in my message above.

I’ve been running an ATS trans for 3 years and 100,000 mi. No complaints here.

***ATS simply the best. ***

See that is the point, if you have had a stock transmission and an ATS transmission, how can you say it is the best. I had a stock transmission for 32K and a Custom transmission for 2K miles and I think it is great. Unless one has had both, how can one say one is better than the other. And really unless one runs both until they break how can they say one is better than the other.

I think this thread should be closed as it is pretty much meaningless. Very few have had both.

SNOKING

Oh, BTW! I really like my DTT transmission.

I haven't had both....

But would still pick a DTT trans over an ATS any day. DTT in my eyes has done a far superior job at re-engineering the factory defect. Ats on the other hand has just made the factory defect last longer. I do think Ats has a very nice T/C but it lacks putting power to the ground while un-locked. Where DTT has a solid T/C, puts awesome power to ground while unlocked. When it locks it is very tight.

Before anyone judges this post to hard, i have driven both trucks extensively, both empty and loaded.

Thank you for your time.

Curtis

dcarner, have YOU drove both? that would be my best bet before taking the $3500+ plunge. i have only drove a dtt but wouldnt put ats out of the picture either. both are great, but i do see dtt having a little edge like curtis says. drive both loaded and unloaded and see what one drives best in your eye, i think it is going to come down to whats most convenient for you, service and warrenty. personaly im a gorends fan, but that need not apply here.

good luck on your hunt :D
