Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) ats questions

what do the ats staged upgrades mean exactly, i always see like ats stage III IV or V hell i'd be surprised if i saw X but anyways what do they mean exaclty i know stage III is the whole trans replacement, but what do the higher ones mean, i'm asking because i am most likely ordering mine either this week or next, parents are gonna help me out financially to get the beast running again, and ready for my first pulling season, thanks for the input
