you really are a piece of....

I am really thinking about getting this done, and if I do I will drive out to Briar Hopper's new shop, and let him do it.

Thanks for keeping us updated Stake.

me too

While I have put on only about 5000 miles since the upgrade to ATS converter and valve body, all is well here too.

The ATS 'guys' have been so quiet lately, I was wondering what was going on. Anyway, I am still lovin' my ATS upgrade!

Yeah, I've already decided to go with an ATS performance transmission and tripeloc tc and am talkin to them now.

If I understand correctly Briar Hopper is in Indiana as am I. What city is he in?

If I could get him to do the swap that would be great.

Great Thread

~7000 miles and still holding. This weekend's race will be a great test.

I have pulled a trailer (not real heavy) for 2000 miles, drove 1500 miles in fluid coupling only, The hottest the transmission gets in the pan is 180F and down the drag strip it sees 160F. In Muncie I was locking it up in first gear. So the stock shafts have held up more than they should have at this point.

I have given hundreds of rides and everyone boasts about how smooth it shifts. Alot of those folks ask me "be honest, what do you think?" I tell them I miss the manual transmission, but the automatic does it's job and I have the best of both worlds with my set up. I shift the automatic, so I still have control without a clutch pedal and lockup in every gear if I desire!

Rattle-Trap, my shop is located in Cynthiana, Kentucky, about 65 miles south of Cincinnati. People often think I'm in Indiana :D because a lot of my friends live there, and until the shop started taking my time, I was up there a lot.

My grand opening is July 27th, all are welcome.

Considering that I am obsessive compulsive I probly won't be able to wait for the end of july to swap transmission's but I would like to get down there and check out your shop.

I have 8000 miles on my new transmission, and not one problem! I got the electronic control box this week, and I am going to install it this weekend. :D I cant wait!!!

That's just the grand opening celebration, Rattle-Trap, I'll be open about the second week of July for transmission and clutch work, as well as Perma-Tech spray-in bedliners. I've already done several installations.

Cool... So would it be ok if I just had them deliver the transmission and stuff to you?

Then we could just schedule a time for me to swing by and get the work done.

ALL the auto transmission vendors have been real quiet lately. I'm sure they are fed up with the way these threads usually go.

So far I installed only ATS triplelok TC, and I love it. Feel like complete different truck. I ordered VB and controller wednesday and can't wait to finish my ATS project. And been quiet was best decision what they can make. This nonsense what was going on don't help to anybody.

I can't speak for the ATS guys being so quiet... but Bill K is no longer allowed to post on the TDR... which is why he's been so quiet.

As I understood it, Bill only got suspended for a few weeks or so. I think the decision to stop posting for the long term was Bill's.

Cant say I dont blame either company for not posting. I would like to see more posts from both ATS and DTT, but the thread I started when I got my ATS transmission went (. )(. ) up in about 2 hours after my first post. You cant blame the vendors for this since the TDR general membership are the ones that brought the thread down to the gutter. I think the serious shoppers are better served by calling the individual companies, or sending a PM to a person. We have no one to thank but ourselves for this, and unfortunately, we all loose in the long run.

Actually the TDR sent Bill back his $35 and gave him the boot! I have talked to DTT and confirmed this.

Though with all of the static going on. . I have to agree and say that I don't blame vendors for posting one bit. The bad thing about public forums is that you may type something. . but people can't see the emotion behind it to see what you are really trying to express.

About 1500 mile on my transmission/TC combo and had 1 minor problem. When it was cold and i was leaving work, going up a slight grade it would slip in and out of gear. PANIC! Called Don at ATS, described the symptoms and he said to add an extra quart to the transmission. Problem solved. Even though my dipstick said i was full it wasn't. Don said you can add more fluid than needed and it won't harm anything; in fact if you add waaayyyyy too much it's just spit it out.

As a side note; While i had him on the phone i asked him to send me a TC controller. He said no! He wouldn't send one till my slipping issue was solved. If the problem was more than just fluid and i had to take it in to Jim Jennings transmission, he'd send the controller at a reduced price (or Free) if i had to pay for service. I really like dealing with these guys!!

Rattle-Trap, usually, I prefer the customer purchase the ATS package directly from me. There is no need for you to order one from them and have it shipped to me. I prefer to sell and install out of my stock. Whether it's ATS, South Bend Clutch, or any of my suppliers, I sell and install out of my own stock, ordered from them .

You may check out my website www.blackmountaindiesel.com for more information, especially how to contact me. My email address and phone numbers are also in my profile on the TDR.
