Hooters meet

i posted this on the MDTDC site but figured i do it here too.

it's official! there will be a small bombing party at my house. im shooting to have this happen on Jan. 9, 2005 (sunday). ive talked to my dad and he think's its a good idea. im tryin to organize a lunch/bbq whatever you want that day. ive got a rather large garage, 80 gal air compressor, and just about any tool you can think of. if any members feel inclined to bring your own "specialty" tools, please do so. i would like to get a KDP jig incase there are any members who would like to kill their kdp, if not done so already. i would also like to start getting a roll call going so i know who will be coming and how much food to get, drinks, BYOBeer. feel free to bring any food to the party. ill keep you posted on anything that may change. all members are welcome to come. i should have enough space to work on multiple trucks at once. feel free to pm me on tdr if you have any suggestions/ questions or just post them here. here is my address. i live roughly dead in between baltimore and dc in howard co. -

Sounds like a great idea, I will be there. Does anyone have the tools and know how to help me to do pump timing on my 98 12v ?

Oh Yea, I put my 4k gsk in the glove box  but it has not made the truck run any better, so I would also like to install them where they will do the most good :)

I can bring some burgers & dogs or whatever, let me know what we need, a list of what is needed would be great after you find out who's going to attend.

Well that make three of us that wants pump timing performed.

We need somebody there who has performed the task before to function as oversite. I'm up for buying tools and letting others use them I'll even help out. I have no problem doing mine but would not want to be lead tech with somebody elses truck not being 100% curtain. Lets put it this way I believe I know how to do it but have never done before... I can however follow\read instructions but does that alone give you the warm and fuzzies.

I would like to be there but not quite sure where Highland Md is located. I coould also use some pump timing and a 4 GSK installed. I'm willing to help with the install as I would like to learn how to do some of this stuff myself. Please get back to me and let me know where you are located.

Thanks

cool looks like about 10-12 guys so far. im going to get a timing tool from my dad, and if anyone else has one and is willing to bring it to use, that would be a big help, looks like alot of 12v guys including me want to get this done. had some qustions as to where highland md is. well the bestway to get there from PA. is to come down rt. 70 south. get off on rt. 32 heading east tworads clarksville. take rt. 32 about 8 miles. rt. 32 will intersect with rt. 108. take the off ramp for rt. 108. at the light take a right and youll be on rt. 108. go about 50 ft. to the first stoplight and turn right onto ten oaks rd. after about 1/2 mile youll come to a "Y" where brighton dam rd. and ten oaks meet. you want to go left at the "Y" and youll be on brighton dam rd. follow brighton dam for about 2 miles. youll come up to a 4 way stop. this is the intersection of brighton dam rd, and highland rd. turn left on highland rd. go east on highland rd. for about 1 mile. turn right onto mink hollow rd. follow mink hollow for about 1/4 mile. turn right onto villia dest rd. make you second left onto cortina dr. follow that to the culdesac and end at 6765 cortina dr. my house is the one with the huge garage. i hope to get some signs made up and post them at various locations. here is a map of my address from mapquest

i hope to make a final list of what we need before christmas once i get a good idea of how many are coming and what people want to accomplish.

I don't think I got to meet you at Ryan's, I had the truck with the bullhauler stacks, sorry I missed you. Is everything still set up for January, I have not heard about it lately. Is there going to be some members there that are willing to help with timing, I didn't hear any more about it. Please keep me posted

Thanks Travis

im sorry i didnt get the chance to intoduce my self travis. I'm sure you saw me, i was wearing the white TDR shirt that said got diesel? on the back. I had a camo dodge ram hat on. My truck was the dark blue/silver 97 with the single stack and i think you were parked right behind me. Yep everything is still on for the 9th of january. I've had some requests from some other members that id like to share. One was drinking alcohol and working on the trucks at the same time. Now im not going to tell you you cant drink cause im only 18 myself, but if you choose to drink, and want to work on your truck, do one or the other please. There's always the possiblitly that you might accidentaly mess up while working on your truck. Second, there has been alot of interest in the new bully dog power pup downolader, and i have had some 3rd. gen owners ask if i could get another member who was willing to bring his/her own downloader and let other 3rd. gen. members who were interested in buying that downloader, test out the program temprorarily on thier truck if the choose to do so. So if you own a bully dog power pup and are willing to let other members download the programs on thier truck temproraily to test, please pm me so we can coordinate that function. As far as tools goes like i said earlier ive got a large garage, air compressor, lots of air tools, and hand tools as well. we should have a member there who is willing to kill some kdp's and i will follow up on that to insure some one who has used the kdp jig will be there. I'm ordering a timing tool from my dad and will be willing to allow other members to use it. Hopefully there will be a couple of members who have done timing before there to watch over our shoulders. I will follow up on that as well. Finally after talking to some other members another issue brought up is food. Right now im looking at 30 possibly 40 members, i'll have a better idea once we get closer to the 9th of january. I've witnesses how yall can eat, and am thinking of the best way to feed yall. The first thing i'd like to do is get some feed back on some food ideas. One idea would be hamburgers hot dogs, chips, and ask members to bring something of thier own to share, a covered dish of thier choice perhaps, and of course soda/beer. Another idea would maybe be pizza along with soda/beer. If any other members have some food ideas please share them with me, that way i make sure i get yall fed good that day. I will post a list as we get closer to this event as to what we need. Finally just incase some were wondering, this event is not just to work on your trucks. Come and shoot the breeze. If your a newbie you will have the chance to learn alot more about your truck and what mods. you can do to it. I'll keep yall posted as time gets closer, ill be watching the weather like a hawk and if the weather does not copperate, well try and plan the event for the following weekend.

Wes,

Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you at Ryan's. Would have liked to. If work permits, (and I don't think it's going to), I'll be there. I want to do the timing on the 12V, and I could bring my downloader for the 3rd Gen. In the event I can't make it, I'm willing to let someone close by pick up my downloader and take it with them, but I want it back. :D Or we can work something out, to where you have it on hand. Sounds like it's going to be fun.

eveything sounds good for january. I'm really looking forward to learning more about my truck as I have the mechanical ability I just don't know that much about my 12v. I am willing to help someone help me do my timing and gsk if time permits. I'll be helping and watching 100% of the way. Let me know on what to bring as I will help out as much as I can. Thanks in advance.

Travis

i can do your gsk if you have the springs. i did mine and went in from the top of the pump and it wasnt too difficult. the 3k springs will make your truck totally different. your top end will be much better because the pump will defuel later aroung 28-2900rpm. im hoping to get a timing kit from my dad before the event becuase i need my timing done as well, and im pretty sure i can do it with someone watching over my shoulder who has done it before. see ya all there

cool! :D let me know how the new turbo runs... . i myself am in the market for a new turbo. im either going with the HTT hybrid kit or a Bell USB. i guess i'll miss all that smoke so i'll have to turn a little more fuel to her :-laf

your right turbodiezel I already have the 60# valve springs in so I will have the 4 gsk ready to bring with me.

WDimig let me know closer to jan. 9 about what to bring with me food, drinks, etc.
