July Gateway Chapter and GODA summer BBQ

MN TDR July 10th

Hey Guys and Gals, lets see if we can come up with a gathering date and place. Since we are stuck between populated places Wyoming members never really get the chance to gather unless willing to travel, time seams to be the big bottleneck for most of us. I would really like to gather and just meet one another and see if we could do a little bombing and comparing rigs and ideas. I realize we dont have alot of opertunities for dynos or things like that but lets get together and brainstorm our future.

One idea I have would be a camping weekend at the Wind River Camp Ground, it has all the amenities available and tents are welcome too. I picked this because it is centrally located and wouldnt be much of a travel for most.

Help me out here and lets here some other sites then we will talk when.

cheers, Kevin

I'm interested Kev, keep me posted with Details. About a month ago one of the shops here in town that has just recently opened (and seems to focus on import and small domestic car mods) had a dyno out front. I didn't get to run on it but it was a mobile dyno and I bet they could set something up for us if people decide that Laramie would be a good location...

well, as kevin knows, i'm leaving next sunday off for laramie, wyoming. i'll travel hours (i do now) to meet up so let me know. i'm sure we could have a convoy as i see that there are a couple members from laramie.

Count me in Kev. If we do a campground, one with a trail head and possibly horse corrals would convince the Mrs to go without hesitation. But a dyno day or something like that would be cool with me too! I've no plans set in stone for the summer, other than Cheyenne Frontier Days. I have concert tix and another TDR member coming in from out of town. We could always do it here as well. Frontier days being the attraction with a party/BS session or two on the side. I do realize that Cheyenne isn't centrally located.

I nominate Whitmore as grand poobah to keep the plans straight!:p Anybody second?

Tim, you may have the best idea yet, The Cheyenne Frontier days would be a gas, lots to do and the females would enjoy it also... ... ... ... ... ... . When is Frontier days???

cheers, Kevin

I second the nomination for Kevin. Can I be campaign manager?

I think the 'daddy of em all' is the last week of July.

I'm in too if it fits in. Frontier Days is July 18 to 27 th this year. Kevin, is the Wind River Campground at Boysen? I blew my horn when I went by your place last weekend, but you must have been asleep.

Cheyenne Frontier Days: www.cfdrodeo.com

There are some other sites as well. Do a google search to find more, but this one has the night schedule on there. There are rodeos every day, three big parades, free pancake breakfasts carnival for the kids and on and on. I'm not trying to build hype or anything. :p There is even free RV parking in my yard.

Talk amonst yourselves, I'm up for a trip too!

OK I am liking the sounds of this deal better all the time :)

I will be the grand pooba ifin I can get a waterbuffalo cap with horns like Fred Flinstone has!!!!!!!!!

I think we need to keep pointed towards a weekend so to give as many people a chance as possible, I see Toby Kieth on the weekend of the 19th and I see Alan Jackson on the weekend of the 26th so I think we need to pick a weekend and schedule it

Also can someone in the general area try to line up a dyno, I dont think it would be fair to have a Wyo TDR rally without a dyno, I guess we could even travel down to Ft. Collins to that one if we have to, it aint to far and it would be a small road trip wilst the wemon folk did a lil shoppin (hopefully not for bull riders) hehehe

I see Tim has avail spots for campers but how much room ya got Tim? I bet all campgrounds are booked solid , I dont know bout the rest yas but my 5er is comming too!

What else are we missing here, seams like it could be a full weekend as is :)

I have tickets for both Keith and Jackson. Oo. One can also go and look around at the vendor booths and carnival while the concerts are going. Some do that to keep from buying a ticket. An entrance fee still exists, but much cheaper than a ticket. I'm sure most of the good seats are taken, but one could still buy seats I'm sure for any of the concerts. I have 20 acres. Bring your extension chords, I only have about 400' of chord. Plenty of flat area near the house, I could easily accomidate 10 5ers close to the house and many more up by the barn which also has power and water. If one didn't want hookups, there's plenty of space. We could have a big cookout here at the house too, maybe a byob?

We'll work on the Fred Flinstone hat. LOL I just had a visual, hehehe

I've PM'd R. ebel to bring his attention to this thread. He knows a guy that had a dyno right here in Cheyenne, but the guy closed up his doors a few months back. I thought I heard him say that he might do special events still. We'll have Rebel check on that. If not the dyno in Fort Collins is only an hour away.

I joined TDR last fall and a get togeather would be great. I especially like the idea of meeting in Cheyenne. I work week ends so I could drive over in the mornings to meet you guys. Looking forward to it.

Lynn in Laramie.

if any of you guys see me running around laramie (check readers rigs for my truck), then wave me over or something. i already know of 4 people from the area.

i'd really like to dyno- i missed the last one in the northeast here do to my broken injection pump:mad:

Tom

I am all for it. Only prob is I won't have my truck back until late July or early August:{ My bro has it in NE:eek:

Marshall - you must really love your brother... :p

I spoke to a guy today that has a performance shop in Laramie - he's going to give me a heads up when they might have another dyno event - he also mentioned that they are planning on purchasing a dyno in the near future.

take care

The lil woman and I are liking the weekend of the 19th the best, We will be Grannie and grandpapy again around the end of the month so we dont want to miss that either, whatdayathink should we shoot for that weekend, its just around the corner :)

cheers, Kevin

The 19th is good for me. I will continue to stand on my opinion that there is no freakin' way Mrs Whitmore is a gramma!

Sat. 19th is Toby Keith opened by Blake Shelton. The carnaval will be going all day and a rodeo or two as well. Saturday morning is likely a parade day through downtown Cheyenne. Usually really good parades. Most horse drawn wagons in any parade in the world. Big collection of Rodeo royalty girls too! :p :D

I'll talk to my wife about doing a shindig here too. I have an ok garage with minimal tools, but if you want to do a bombing session here thats cool with me. Maybe a Char B-Q Sat or Sunday noon or both? I have tickets for Sat. concert and I wouldn't miss them unless my hand holding the tickets were to get mulched in a terrible farm accident.

Allrighty then. Weekend of the 19th it is.

1. We need a game plan

2. J, check up on that dyno in Laramie and get back

3. R. ebel if yer out there, let us know of the possible dyno here in Cheyenne.

4. Next choice would be Fort Collins. We could collaberate something with our Colorado neighbors.

5. I'll plan on a BBQ here at the house. I'll gas up the grill. Maybe folks can bring what they want to grill/drink?

6. Like I said you're all welcome to do any bombing right in my garage, but only if I get to watch!

7. As far as CFD goes, there usually is a printable schedule that includes any activities going on in town. As soon as I find one, I'll get it out to ya. People can come and go as they wish to attend whatever.

8. PM me for directions to my place.

9. Any non WYO members either close by and/or attending or not attending CFD are still welcome.

OH grand poobah, take it from here. :D

Tim, looks like you got things lined out whilst I was away, I think you got all the right things happining.

I hope Wyo Jim sees this post ( I PMed all wyo members) and offers to cook us all some of his famous BBQ that he is always inviting us to, I think maybe one evening we could go get all the goodies at the store and cook em up beverages and all and then just divide the cost per person that way nobody gets hooked with a big bill, whatdoyathink ? Its awful nice of Tim to offer his place to gather so we dont want to cause him a riff.

cheers, Kevin
